Hey guys, this is my first post. A week ago i ordered a 2/4 harness from technic for my '07 323i. A lil bird told me that my wife bought me a alpine DD HU for christmas. Can i still use the harness from Technic? I've pm'd him for an answer but hes probably swamp with orders. Anyone please thanks

Yes you could, as long as you use the high level outputs of that aftermarket HU in the exact same way as the high level outputs of the OEM HU.

I wouldn't recommend doing that when you have RCA outputs. You can still use half the harness but I would use RCA cables for the signal going to the amp.

Using RCA outputs will make the Stereo 2/4 harness useless.

You can still use it for the signal after the amp.

Again, the Stereo 2/4 is not the proper harness for an aftermarket HU with RCA outs.

You are confusing forum members.

How am I confusing anyone the wiring going to the front speakers and under seats would be the same regardless of what head unit you use. Sure that is not how you intended on it being used but it can be done.

The purpose of the Stereo 2/4 harness is to not remove the OEM HU.

Once the requirement changes to replacing the OEM HU then the Stereo 2/4 is no longer the proper harness at all if aftermarket RCA outputs are used.

Yes, the Stereo 2/4 can be used but then RCA cables must be run from the dash to the trunk and then speaker wire from the trunk to the back of the aftermarket HU for the rear speaker inputs or directly to the rear speakers in the rear shelf. What was supposed to be as PnP as possible becomes not PnP at all.

That is the reason that I do not support any aftermarket HU installs with any of my harnesses.

The main purpose of your harness is to make installing an amp easier and it does the job . Because of that your harnesses are useful with or without the stock headunit.

No aftermarket headunit install is going to be pnp(besides dynavin, but that doesn't count), but with the right harnesses you can leave your factory wiring intact(op needs the connects2 harness for the connections in the dash).

The only reason he would need to run new wiring to the rear speakers is if he wants to amp them which I'm assuming he doesn't since he got the 2/4 harness and not the regular base harness.

Again... I am the person designing and supplying the harnesses, not you. I appreciate your input but at the end of the day I am the person that will have to answer the PM of the confused forum members and not you.

And again: I do not support or sell any of my harnesses for aftermarket HU installs.

i am not planning on running rca's at all. I just want to keep this install pnp. The only reason i am changing the head unit is because of the all-in-one system ie. navi, backup camera, ipod connectivity, bluetooth. Elias already said i can still use the harness in the beginning of my post and thats all i care about.

I finally decided when i get the Alpine HU i will exchange it for something else. It seems like too much of headache for an install. I ordered the 2/4 harness for its simplicity and for its pnp. Im going to keep the stock HU. now does anyone have a install guide for the 2/4 kit? I know the installer will be asking for one when it time, thanks
