Mysterious Part
Hello guys,
This small bracket / clip has BMW logo on it, my mechanic could not identify it. I don't know if it is for my car model or another BMW model. Was under the car when the mechanic pulled down the engine to do a cylinder head job. The number on the plastic part is : 6773940 I Have tried every possible search method, could not find anything. I Have E90 335i N54 2007 Automatic Transmission. Photos Attached Thanks. |

Have you got an aftermarket FMIC?

I had to take out a small part very similar so that my Helix FMIC would fit. It's just as small. Can't find it now if I need to part out.

The problem is, it is not showing in the diagram !
Maybe someone is doing a fix in this area and can confirm. Last edited by Kingtron; 12-25-2014 at 06:05 AM.. |

Yes, it's a little spacer that bumps into a pad on the rubber motor mount when the engine torques to the side under full throttle. Basically, when you're cruising the motor mount is free to float around and absorb vibrations easily. Then when you go full throttle the engine torques to the side a little and compresses the rubber motor mount. The pad stops the rubber motor mount from compressing further, so it limits engine movement. Sort of like a dual hardness motor mount- it's soft when cruising and firm at WOT.

Reviving a very old thread in case anyone else finds this. I also found this piece lying on the ground after dropping the subframe.
Dave W is correct - "Yes, it's a little spacer that bumps into a pad on the rubber motor mount when the engine torques to the side under full throttle. Basically, when you're cruising the motor mount is free to float around and absorb vibrations easily. Pics show where it attaches on the motor mount bracket. I don't know if it is actually needed, especially when upgrading motor mounts, but hopefully helps if someone else has a little OCD like I do and can't stand not knowing where it went!

I just replaced both motor mounts, and this part fell out. Couldn't figure out where it went. My car is still up in the air since I'm waiting for a new subframe bolt, so now I can go slip this back in. Thanks!
