Bat_MobilE90's turbo upgrade

Over the past few months my waist gate rattle has gotten unbearable. not to mention the rear turbo seal was shot so it was time for a upgrade. my first thought was to go with rb's until I came across thread on a different forum about a company named hexon racing research. after looking around for more info and contacting wayne at hexon I was sold. they are slightly smaller than the rb's but that's not a problem for what im looking for the upgraded waist gates and the significantly lower price was where I got sold, more power was just a added bonus. anyways on jan 6 2015 my new turbos have arrived! the packaging was on point, very well packed and sealed. over all im impressed so far. ill be uploading pics of the unpackaging and install ect. this weekend

Could you provide the cost difference with these turbos as well? Thanks.

Just did a Google search. They have a website and a Facebook page if you are looking for prices and pics.

Batmobile make sure you let us know what they are like. I'm looking for something exactly like this. Did you get any info regarding failure rate? How does it compare to RBs, VTT?

Updates

Coincidently I was actually looking these up yesterday and I was initially impressed but from what I could tell they are a Taiwan turbo and that left me a little skeptical. Although they are a type one turbo, it doesn't mean they are bad. I want to be in the loop

Wayne is great to deal with.

Nice to see there turbos are starting to get in the hands of more people. If you go on the other forums there are a lot of people running them and cant go wrong on the price also. Contacting Wayne directly will net you a better price.

well I got started on the install last night and didn't get far before I realized there is absolutely no diy turbo swaps on the forums so iv decided to make a full step by step diy. its going to take me some time but be patient im going to be as thorough as possible.

the price difference was around $1800 after all said and done. the core was also a little better at $500 with hexon compared to $300 with rb.

i couldn't find much info on fail rating on these turbos but i plan on pushing them to see what they can really do. ill keep everyone posted throughout the next few months with logs and updates on performance.

heres a few pics as requested

Update:
got the turbos installed everything went smooth up until I dropped the water pump and cracked the plastic housing. So a new one has been ordered also found a leaking valve cover gasket that will be getting fixed too looks like it's going to be another week until i can drive it again. Can't wait to see how these turbos perform.

btw with a little more research I found a few great diy turbo swap threads, if you plan on doing this upgrade and have the time and resources I highly recommend doing this job yourself its more intimidating and time consuming than difficult.

too bad the price went up already 400 dollars more. Now they are 2800 dollars , RB seem the safer bet now but was hoping to see a cheaper option that performs.

Yeah. Depends what you are looking for though..

These look like they will perform with stock like spool and a provide nice bump in power. If the reliability is better than the other 2 options, cost comparisons won't matter.

2800 is with the core charge I just did a quick search and found them for 2350 without core. If you contact wayne directly he will give you a much better price

I'll have updates for you tomorrow night. I decided to have my dp's ceramic coated while they were out and I get them back tomorrow afternoon. Turbos are installed along with new water pump. Everything went smooth, I'll keep you all posted

UPDATE

She runs! Took it for a good long test drive and she pulls like a beast! 18 psi no problem. IV got a few little bugs to work out like spark plugs and new gaskets to the intercooler but all in all I am very impressed. Next stop dyno so we can see what it puts down. I'll keep you posted
