iPod Alternatives?

I have a 2011 335i with iDrive.

I liked the ipod integration via USB, but unfortunately the iPod Classic is no longer available, and mine just broke. Is there another way to have similar functionality with a different device? I would buy an iPod touch, but I have 140 gigs of music, which is too much for the touch.

I'm in the same boat. I put my 1st gen airport express to work in the car and have an iphone 4 that was collecting dust so using that as an ipod to stream via airplay. My lossless library is 1TB+, having 32GB to work with is such an aggravating exercise. I thought about giving a Fiio a shot just because they are so cheap but usability reviews and lack of wifi/airplay kinda ruins that.

Raspberry pi music server setup in a couple threads I've seen on here are interesting and may be the way to go...

Apple doesn't sell them anymore, and used ones are either stupid expensive or broken.

Hadn't thought about Rasberry pi but obviously was hoping for an easier solution. I don't suppose idrive communicates with the Fiio players?

I use an iPod Nano Gen. 6 8gb....works great. It's small and I don't really need much more than 8gb for the playlists I have set up.

You can use a regular USB stick, cheaper and it displays the titles.
