2015 Z06 vs 2015 GTR Nismo (Motortrend)*UPDATED*/ Carlos Lego Geek Out 03/14/2015)
NEW VIDEO updated, prior Z06 had issues. Video Below 3/14/2015
---------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...mo_comparison/ Hope this isn't a repost, but this is bad news for XXXXXXXX... I was expecting different results but the conclusion is valid argument. I wish they would of included the Porsche. Makes me wonder about the upcoming CTS-V and ATS-V. Hopefully Motor Trend does a Video. Still a good read nonetheless. ======================= ================================ Updated Video with more detail- Raw Review added 2/22/15 =================================== UPDATED 3/14/2015 Last edited by DocWeatherington; 03-14-2015 at 01:58 AM.. |

I don't know. Something just does not add up with the Z06. I expected more from the Vette. Maybe what Randy said, it did not feel that strong (650bhp). I doubt that the aero is the reason for that much speed difference. I need to drive the Z06!

Interesting how the situation is reversed from this C7 Z51 vs. GT-R test. Here it was the GT-R that had to reduce power and got slow when it got too hot.
http://www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/cor...son-test1.html "Blame the desert heat on this summer day all you want, but when push comes to shove, the GT-R gets hot, dials back power and can't keep up with the less powerful, less costly Corvette" |

The AWD was not the deciding factor around the track. The Z06 was faster around the corners, braked later in the turns....Its was the aero downforce for one, and maybe an ecu issue.

It would have been nice to see it against the new A8 trans instead of the M7 but those A8 cars are on hold right now. Still we see the car is having heat soak issues but how come? Actual owners are doing lap times and not seeing anything but maybe because they are breaking the cars in accordingly instead of it being a test mule? Still would take the C7Z over Godzilla. |

The GTR won with more weight, less power, and inferior brakes and tires. The Z06 is a great car, but Godzilla is simply the pinnacle of automotive engineering this side of a $1 million price tag.
And let's not forget that this is an 8 year old GTR platform! It came out way back in 2007. That makes it essentially the oldest platform among all modern supercars, yet it's still performing with the best! I recommend all other supercar manufacturers buy themselves an industrial sized container of Vaseline, because I predict there will be a lot of butthurt screaming and crying when Nissan introduces the R36 platform! |

I loved the last Z06/ZR1. New one seems to be a let down. Trap speed is shockingly low, stock tune pulling timing, and slower than a car with less aero, less power, more weight and way less rubber.

11.4 @ 124 for the Z06 !?!?!?!
HAHAHAHA, someone can't drive. There are already owners with stock cars running 10.x @ 13x They lost me at the straight line specs. Bogus article. Not even worth the read. GTR wins because its the easier car to drive fast like it's always been. We aren't going to see the Z06 capabilities until it is in the hands of a professional driver and doesn't have one of the magazines complaining about pulling timing or whatever. Randy Pobst + properly broken in z06 + AT Until I see a day with those three criteria, i'm not believing any of these internet rumors or bogus comparisons. Randy Pobst * properly broken in z06 * AT I find it very interesting that actual owners are not having the same issues that these magazines are. |

C7 "fast list" on the corvette forums has stingrays running faster numbers than listed in this article. You really think that the z06 is not capable of improving on that?
