High Gloss Shadow Trim - HOW MUCH???!!!!
Hi All,
Having had the high gloss shadow trim on my 330Ci Sport from a few years ago, I wanted to see if I could get it retro fitted on my current E92 325i SE Sapphire Black Coupe. Asked the local dealership and guess what! £850 inc parts, labour and VAT!!!!!!!! Surely someone's taking the proverbial urine here! Does it really cost that much?? Any ideas how I can get this retro fit done at a more reasonable cost? I mean, as a factory fitted option it costs only £350........ Please help, I really want this!!! Thanks THR Doc |

Buy the parts from the dealer and they will be about £350. Then go and ask a mechanic if they would like to earn £50 at the weekend and take it to their house and get them put on.
Or go to an independant dealer and they will do it for more reasonable money. Someone on this forum will no how to do it themselves as there are some mechanical minded guys on here.

Spoke to the parts shop at the dealer and they say that the high gloss surrounds for the windows (thats all that I want, dont want to change the mirror casing or anything) will cost about £600 for the pair.
Surely something isn't right somewhere???? THR Doc |

Go to an independant specialist and ask them about the price and fitting. Sounds pricey.

Nathan,
Thanks for the lead. I have e mailed them to see if it is the high gloss piano black trim, or the matt black one. Mike, I tried calling some of the Indys I could find in my local area and all of them said that they dont have this part :-( I have placed an order for the part from one of the other local dealers, who has said that it is £422 for the part. How the price can swing so much from one dealer to the next, I will never know!! THR Doc |

It's not unnormal for dealers to charge different prices for parts or service.
Usually the smaller dealers out of city area's tend to be cheaper.
