Reviews for AP Intercooler
Hey guys, new to the forums but i have owned my car for a year and a few months now. I finally starting modding the car and recently added Cobb. Currently running Stage 1 Aggressive and I love the power delivery throughout the rpms and everything.
Anyways, I wanted to know if you guys have had any experience with Agency Power Intercooler or do y'all suggest going with another brand? I am doing my research because soon will be purchasing intakes and downpipes so the next thing after that will be the intercooler! Thanks!

After being on bmw forums for a while the difference between 300 and 1000 intercoolers are tiny. Just get vrsf 7 inch intercooler.
I bought a 750 intercooler but for real world performance vrsf would be as good. As for Cobb question....... Two options, buy Cobb or jb4 or both |

Its all good man, to be honest with you i didn't loose any response or smoothness, in turn cobb gave me a better response and the power delivery is amazingly smooth throughout the power band. I was confused between getting cobb and jb4 like many others and i pulled the trigger on cobb because I got it for a good price from a local club member who only used it once! I was even ready to pay the full price of $900 plus shipping on Cobb because it had great reviews and ease of use and installation! Only thing i would like about JB4 is map switching on the fly and controlling your own boost levels other than that Cobb is the way to go man. Sacrifice a couple horsepower going with Cobb because its a little conservative but at the end of the day you are safe and happy with the product.

Considering most $300 intercoolers are ebay intercoolers with extremely low density cores. |

Or investigate the new MHD Tuning Solution which should be released in April and cost several hundred less than Cobb http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...07&postcount=1 |

My ebay 300 intercooler worked the same as a 400 mishmoto intercooler in log comparisons so i started the prices at 300.
I would not recomend either. Vrsf 7 inch would be recomended 450. And there DPs. If you want to most flow ams intercooler 600 If you want iat control ambient thermal management intercooler 750 If you want top shelf by evolution raceworks about 900 i think |

Why would you recommend other intercoolers over AP?

Are you guys not offering 25% off of n54 downpipes? I see the intercoolers but not downpipes for n54?

As i said at the beginning of my post, it has nothing against AP they make a good intercooler.
But other options are more proven

Okay gotcha. I was leaning more towards vrsf for my intercooler anyways but was wondering about AP as I have never heard of them. Would 5inch intercooler be good enough if the car is not tracked and mostly used for daily drives?

When customers purchase intercoolers I like to ask them how they plan on using the car and what they're goals are. While the 5" non-stepped intercooler we used to sell is a great upgrade over stock, there's just not enough volume in a 5" core to provide low intake temps on a FBO car doing multiple gear pulls. We generally recommend the 7" intercooler in most cases, we have cars ranging from 450whp to 830whp putting the 7" to work without breaking a sweat. It works well whether you're going FBO, upgraded twins or single turbo. If you're not looking to squeeze out every last HP out of your setup or rarely perform multiple gear pulls and don't have an interest in trimming the shroud, the 5" stepped is a great alternative. |
