I'm a fan of AR as I had them myself before my Motiv kit. With that being said, I'm not so sure they are worth the cost. The AR's were one of the first downpipes for the 335i which warranted the price due to initial R&D costs as well as being the new/only kid on the block.

Over the years they have more than paid for themselves and there's absolutely no reason they should be 900 dollars to start. It's a high quality part but let's be real, it's two small pipes.

VRSF and stock exhaust, that's what I had. Perfect sound for when you get on it and tame on the highway and cruising.

AR has the best quality / fitment of all but they are just pipes. I have AR's but if I were buying today I would probably get VRSF or similar.

I have a hard time imagining that AR has the best fitment ... VRSF fitment is PERFECT and they have excellent fit and finish. It can't get any better. I just can't imagine any reason to spend more money.

Not sure how today's fitment is but when I brought mine in to my indy for install he thanked me. He said that the quality on every other set he had installed was shit. Of course this was almost 4 years ago.

Vrsf will get the job done for less money. Spend a few extra on wheels or rotors calipers etc!

We offer both but i would recommend VRFS. It fits and works as described for an unbeatable price.

I have had my AR's for years. I would say the best however are always overlooked. The cp-e downpipes R&D went above and beyond. the best bargain is VRSF and we all know that. Looking now at the data behind everything, cp-e is the only company to develop ONE downpipe that fits all the models and the craftsmanship is bar none. Any engineer can tell you having 2.5in flanges into 3 inch down into 2.5 again is a bottleneck. A smooth transition yeilds much better flow unless you are going full custom and have 3 inch to 3 inch there is nothing to gain. The cp-e is a smooth transition and flows amazing, just not often gone for probably just a marketing flaw.

I own AR downpipes but cp-e is the way to go.

You might be right from a technical point of view but in terms of results you might be getting an extra 5whp max. Not worth paying double / triple the price.

correct mike, my "argument" was simply information however. He obviously was looking at AR which is a massive price difference from VRSF indicating he may have the money if so inclined. I simply wanted to tell him had i known years ago (when I thought AR was all that was out there) about cp-e I would have saved $200 bucks and gone with them. cp-e are like 600 or so shipped i never looked at VRSF i know they are cheap but beyond that i dont know by how much. Anyhow if you havent already made a decision and want top quality with good resale (even to an xi owner or LHD) down the road call up Josh over at cp-e and tell him "4doorbmwpower" or Connel sent yah he may give you a little discount.

I know one thing. I am selling my AR for my custom build, and they were picked up in a few days after being posted, used for more than VRSF are going for brand new and this is after YEARS of use. That is worth a little something of note.

AR baby. VRSF wasn't out yet when I bought mine. Quality and fitment was spot on. Of course I'm AWD, so the install was a bit of a PIA.

I've done tons and tons of Downpipe installs on N54s. The best bar none are cp-e and the aR design pipes. As far as craftsmanship, engineering, welds, quality, materials and fitment those two take the cake by a long shot. With that said, the VRSF V2 and N54 Tuning V2 pipes fit well and get the job done on the budget. Other good fitment pipes are Macht Schnell and Active Autowerke etc but cost a bit more. As far as the VRSF V2 Downpipe, those are the only VRSF product that I dont mind installing, the Chargepipes and Intercoolers are another story lol.

youll gain about 20-25whp from downpipes. also, the spooling sound of the turbos will be much louder cruising around.
