who has done a downpipe install ?
Hey Guys
I wanted to know who has done a downpipe install and did you remove the rack? Did you have any issues with the steering after ? The reason I ask is there is another member here who posted he did the install and now is having an issue with his steering wheel/ alignment . I thought maybe he did something wrong but another member chimed in saying he has done 2 dp installs and he had that issue with one not the other. Its 2 bolts should be straight forward off then on .. Thanks |

I saw that thread.
I did mine last year and didn't have issues maybe I got lucky I dunno, just unbolted the 2 ETorx bolts pulled rack down and over to the drivers side a bit.

No issue with my alignment after on my 335i. I just didn't torque the bolts , and after 6 months came "loose" and began to pop on full steering lock. Took a torque wrench to it and no issues after.

I've done a few sets and no problems. dont disconnect the ends ,just take out the 2 bolts , slide it out of the frame and hang off to the drivers side.Steering wheel good on all.

I unbolted the rack to make room but didn't entirely remove it, and now my steering wheel is cocked maybe 5 deg to the left when going straight. When I get a chance I'm going to unbolt it again and move it to the left and see if that helps align the steering wheel. If I recall the rack has a little bit of wiggle room.

That is good to know..I'll see if there is a away to mark its position in that case .The last rack I removed was on my Mustang and that was marked with 2 big holes in the k member so could not mess it up |
