I'm just a rookie, so my opinion may not count for much but I'd always put the stuff on by hand before. This past weekend, I tried using the FLEX and a blue pad at a low speed and relatively quick movement to put on the wax.
I don't know that I'll do it that way every time, but it sure seemed to go on quicker and more evenly. You need to avoid or tape over seams or you'll splatter into crevices. Other than that, it seemed like a good way to get a nice even coat of wax on the car, so I'm not sure what the drawbacks are. Most detailers seem to do what BNR32 says -- apply and remove by hand -- so that's probably the better method, I'm just not sure why. I removed by hand. Car looked perfect, then it rained the next day. ![]()

It depends what type of wax you are using. For me I usually apply sealant with a PC. And for wax I do it by hand and let it cure for about 30 minutes. And then mist cold water onto the car and wipe off. Then let it sit in the sun for 4 hours or so to let the wax melt onto the car for a even more in depth shine.

I think it depends on the wax too. IMO, i think it'd be better to apply both sealant and wax by hand because the heat may break down some of the wax particles if done by machine. Yes the machine is faster and spreads more evenly, but you might end up using more product than you need.

I apply sealant with the PC and P21S Carnauba by hand. Back and forth motions with the direction of air flow as instructed by the bottle. I just layered on top of Wolfgang sealant.
