can I epoxy an cracked VC?
temporarily?
I plan on ordering a new one, but just to get me by for a while? today did all 6 new injectors and calve cover gasket, I cleaned up the VC and got it all together, (it went amazingly well, cant believe the dealer want 1K to do just the valve cover job) I looked the VC over and all looked good, got it all put back together and fired it up and noticed a little oil from a crack I didn't see when I was looking it over as I was looking in other areas I guess.. this is right behind the oil fill cap think I can get by with some epoxy for a few weeks until I get a chance to have a day to tear into it again? product recommendations ? |

Yea I think you could . Just make sure you check on it everyday to make sure it hasn't started back leaking .

If anything would work it would be JB weld high heat....I think it would work well if properly cleaned and prepped surface.....I remember years ago I had a crack that I sealed with regular JB weld that held for years and also filled a hole in the crank cover on my old Gs 750 e motor bike.

If it's a short term solution then yes, just remember temporary.

If you absolutely have to, to get you by, I'd use (as others recommended) JB Weld high heat. I used JB Weld on the brass vacuum fitting I installed in place of the POS flimsy one where the BOV/DV connects to the manifold and its rock solid.
Bought the JB from Lowes. |

I picked up some JB weld from autozone says its up to 550*
I plan on scuffing up the area good, and letting it cure for a day or 2 before driving. |

It will hold up for sure. My E36 had a 10 time worse crack on mine. The previous owner used some ghetto epoxy and leaked oil. I found it cleaned it up and JB Welded it. I sanded it after and surprisingly almost same color as my VC.
Trust me JB Works wonders! |
