Well as title says today was my first debut im autox and running my "stock" 335i because i didnt flash it yet with mhd tune and my throttle response S U C K E D cause we never got out of second gear got a 6 runs in and all my friends and my friends friends that have been doing this were surprised at me hitting no cones doing perfect lines. GTR were trapping 59-61seconds myself 66sec.

Side note the PSS were amazing on my staggered set up on 19 with -1 camber front and -2 camber rear and the tire psi 31 all around stock sport suspension. Also my friends Mustang GT couldnt run after the first run because they have N E V E R heard a mustang that loud its FBO BBK or whatever they call them pretty quick its the black one in the pic.

Now ill be in the market for some 18s Square Set Apex ARC-8 or any Apex or the 219M

Couple things, guarantee you weren't doing perfect lines. I don't know what the statement indicated but keep that in mind.

You'll never get out of 2nd gear. It's rare that you'll get into 3rd...although it does happen on the national scene. I typically get to 67 for a quick second at some courses as that's the top of my 2nd gear. Cars that are geared lower (ie NC Miata) will jump into 3rd.

Comparing yourself against a car isn't always the best idea. What were your results on PAX?

PS - Your friends Mustang is classed completely wrong. STF is Street Touring FWD. Currently there is no classing for a 5.0 in ST trim so it'd be in ESP most likely depending on mods

Yes they did class his mustang wrong

I had great lines according to a professional

I also stayed in second gear as well

I was comparing myself because he had more experience and i was keeping up

Sounded like fun. But if you get a chance, take the car to a real track as well, you learn faster and get way more seat time in a day.

Bad idea for novice on the track. Try ACC or Gingerman first. Blackhawk has no run off and RA is very fast. Both require experience.

How was the tire wear during the one event?

I did auto-x in my old car, but am kinda worried about eating through tires with the 335i since its a pretty heavy powerful car. I just put new tires on and can't really afford to be replacing them more than once a year right now.

I just got some hankook ventus evo2s put on yesterday. Got a really good deal on them.

Before that I had RFT all season Bridgestones in the rear and RFT summer bridgestones in the front. The rears wore out in about 10k, but that's partially due to my driving.

I kinda wish I had bought a Miata and a cheaper daily driver, so I could have the miata to autox.

You shouldn't go through then in a year, but depending on how the driving style is they may prematurely wear/start shreading apart.

Even though they are a summer tire, they aren't meant to be pushed to the extreme limit

I'm guessing you must be Safet. Here is the link to the results. http://www.scca-milwaukee.org/solo/2...0Class.htm#STU

The Mustang driver's car was obnoxiously loud at 104 db (I did sound for the 1st heat) and very slow despite that sound. I did very poorly myself in FS but don't see any times in the 62 range you indicated. As an aside, it was very much a speed maintenance course which did not really provide much opportunity to put any power down especially on my 120 run Hankook RS3 v2's which did not take to the asphalt surface as I had hoped. Better results since then.

The tire wear was actually minimal I was surprised and my friend with a supercharged s2000 he's like wow I'm surprised you haven't worn your tires out that bad.

PSS are very good tires. I had them last year. Did 6-7 track days. They were hand me down by the way. Another forum member used the year before. I'm extremely satisfied. Finally ditched them then the rear start showing belts. The front were still OK. Great tire for what they are.

Actually, I take that statement back. Apparently I don't know much about tires

Are coming in August to ACC?

It is a heavy car with plenty of power, you are going to wear out any tires faster than usual.

If you go to track more than 2-3 times a year, it might be worth it to get some track capable street tires like Hankook R-S3 instead. Any of these street biased tires (PSS, Ventus V12, etc.) are no good on track for our cars. They will over heat and get really slippery, and actually wear much much faster than they are suppose to. It is not uncommon for the E9x n54 or M3 guys to burn through a brand new set of PSS on track in one day if they are overdriving them.
