Ordering 2009 335i
Does anyone know when dealers will start taking orders for 2009 models? My current 330i lease comes up in early May and ideally I'd like to order a 2009 E90 and just extend my lease until Sept/Oct when they're supposed to be out. Any thoughts on whether my timing will work out?

You can probably order around July or August since 09 models tend to come around during the fall. I ordered my 07 in July and my production week was the last week before the price would go up because of the 08 models.

Facelifted E90 is supposed to start production from september '08.
Just order a, say, october build, and you'll be in the clear.

i have already placed the order for the facelift, you just have to tell your dealer that you want to place the order for an e90 LCI (life cycle impulse = facelift)...

Did you get a production number with your E90 2009 LCI? I"m pretty sure I need one to extend my lease.

The facelift should be pretty minor, maybe tweak the front and rear lights.BMW rarely touches the inside,it's too much $$$ to make changes. For ED,you might be able to p/u in late Sept....probably Oct for bothe the 335d,
X5d as well as the other models. You can usually extend your lease up to 6 months, but you need to ask BMWFS. |

If you call up BMW financial around the time your lease is up and told them that you put a deposit on an 09 model then they will let you go month to month until you get your car. If you ordered your car in July you would get it by either Sept or early Oct. However Im not sure about your time frame on your lease end. You should definatly call them up. I think they will let you go month to month if you are getting another BMW.

2009 335xi Order Placed
I ordered a 2009 335xi on Monday of this week. The salesman said I was the first 2009 he's ordered. Their web site 'build your own' tool at bmwusa.com was building 2008's until just about a week ago, so the ability to do 2009 is very recent. He said I can expect it about mid October.
I'm really looking forward to the vehicle. Test drive of the 2008 version felt very good, coming from an E46 M3 previously, I was impressed with ponies on the dual turbo setup. I decked this guy out in options, taking the price from $42,000 up to $58,000. The navigation for me will be sick, as Chicago does broadcast the real time traffic info! Active cruise will be awesome on my trips downstate, with 5 hours down I55 at a time often having my cruise interrupted by some jerkoff doing 45mph and swerving into the left lane for no apparent reason, forcing abrupt braking on my part. Front and rear parking sensors new for 2009, and the console appears to have a special adapter for docking a iPhone into the yummy Logic7 surround sound (which has like 13 speakers?). Steptronic + paddles will be fun for city or some playful driving outside where you can get moving a bit faster. Comfort access is great and I love not having to insert anything into the dash, or even press a button to unlock the door (you just touch). I think 18" wheels and premium tires get the speed limiter upped to 155 from 130. The only question I have is if the M3 2009 wheels can fit on the 335xi. If the clearance allows, I'd love to get a spare set for summer driving with more aggressive sporty tires, and put winter treads on the stock 18 inchers. Anyone know if this is possible? |

I opted for the sedan. I wanted to go with coupe originally, but here in the city, having a car and a garage is a bit of a luxury, and I have many carless friends. Guess who gets to play chauffeur? The extra doors will help for that, groceries, and the car seat one day. Have you ever seen someone stuffing a baby seat in the back of a M3 coupe? Speaking of M3...the only thing stopping me from going that route was the X drive option on 335. Anyone from the area will testify to the sick winters we get, and the M3 RWD is almost worthless once the ice hits.
