Front brake pads -- any suggestions?

Any reason to go with other than OEM for normal use? Amazon has Brembo pads, as well as Wagner, Hawk, Akebono, EBC and Bosch. Thanks in advance for any advice.

As an aside, the last time my car was in the (independent) shop the designated diesel guy, who is Russian, commented with evident disgust at the low pad wear on my car and suggested I let him have the car for a week. Jeez.

From my experience, which as this point is limited to 45,000 miles and two track days and some mountainous descents on occasion, I can't see any reason not to stay with the OEM pads. For my production month and model year, I still have a lot of pad left and they generate almost no dust at all. The only exception for me would be if I decided to frequent the track often. Then I might choose to have a separate set of different pads for track use. But for daily driving, even spirited daily driving, nah.

For a daily driver in the DC area the stock pads are fine.... except for generating lots of black brake dust.

I'm also looking to upgrade front pads on my 335is, which I believe has the same front rotors as your 335d, but want something that will stand up to spirited mountain driving and not generate lots of dust like the stock pads do.
So along those lines I've been searching and will probably go for ceramic pads but have not made up my mind yet.

There are apparently 2 different pads. The earlier 335Ds had the same dusty pads BMW usually used. But there was a formulation change I think in 2010 that made a MUCH lower dusting pad. Just make sure you get the newer version. I also run Akebonos on my other BMWs. While the newer formulation BMW pad makes a little more dust than the Akebonos, the initial bite of the BMW pads are so much better. But I will also add unless you are tracking the car, a set of the Akebonos will probably last the life of the car. On the other hand getting 100K miles out of my original set of BMW pads is also very likely.

I had 100k on the rears when I replaced them, and they still had at least 50% of their life left. Only replaced because the sensor went bad and it seemed worth it to just do the pads while I was in there. In the end it probably wasnt.

I have always replaced pads with O.E. on my Bimmers. The pad formulation works great for me in all aspects.

If running a fully tuned car, I'd strongly suggest upgraded pads than the OEM ones.

What brand/formulation would you recommend Greekboy? It seems many of the BMW test reviews do mention brake fade when pushed very hard on the O.E pads.

I'm running the Racing Brake ET500 aggressive street pads. I also have their 2 piece rotors as well.

Even the ET300 performance street pads would be a step up from stock pads.

fsd350 and they are the cheapest way to get your car to STOP PRONTO!! it cost me around I believe was $600 pads with Disc, Call tire rack speak to Alex at ext. 294 and tell him about Axel's set up in Puerto Rico

Which 2 piece rotors do you have? They don't seem to make a front rotor for the 335i and they don't list the 335d on their site.

I'm looking into upgrading my front brake pads as well. Does anyone have experience with the Hawk HPS?
Also, I'm a bit confused about the part numbers:
Realoem lists 34116794920 while
Pelicanparts lists 34116794917.

Is there a difference between the M-sport version and the standard version of the 335d?

Axel how much improvement did you get? I actually think the OEM brakes are pretty damn good. That said the dust drives me crazy. I have heard, and it intuitively makes sense, that drilled rotors have less surface area for the pads to clamp on to better heat dissipation notwithstanding. What is the biggest benefit you have gotten from your new setup?
