Autocraft H8-AGM battery installed

Just wanted to update regarding the replacement battery for my 2009 328i which had a stock lead acid battery rated for 90A at 720CA (Cranking amps). After 6.5 yrs, the CA had dropped to 314CA and my car was showing all signs of battery down (instrument cluster being shut down each night, car on ramp warning, etc). Stealership wanted $500 to install new battery and even independent shops wanted like $460 or so. So ended up doing a DIY instead.

I debated a lot about going with lead acid or AGM. The 2 models I considered were Autocraft Gold 49H8 (lead acid) or Autocraft H8-AGM (AGM). Both are made by Johnson controls. They are the same ones as Autozone's own branding under the same model numbers.

Atleast in my car, there is no way to fit 49H8 even though the advance auto parts website said it fits. The 49H8 is about 1" longer than the H8-AGM and the stock battery. So the battery clamp in my car would not work. While the H8-AGM is the exact size as my OEM battery.

Ofcourse I am having the car coded (as the new battery is not the same type as the current battery) and registered tomorrow through a friend.

FYI there are multiple holes in the floor of the battery bay so you can move the clamp. I went with the DieHard Advanced Gold AGM Group 49 which is made by East Penn (one of the OEM suppliers) and it fit after I moved the bracket. Old battery was a shorter 94R.

Actually that is what i had assumed too. But in my car there was only one hole so i was restricted to using the same spec battery.
