Well I have been trying to get these to work for me but there is one that will not turn on for me every time. I have 2 different hid H11 kits that I have tried one said it specially for the E90 2 sets of BMW cancellers. No dice everytime I go from brights to dims there is a 5-10% chance one bulb will not turn on and I get a warning light which is a high chance. Car is 2008 BMW 335xi sedan.

Only possible solution that I know of, is to increase the voltage going to the hids by nettodat coding.. Tried many times on my 06 320d, but never manage to make the coding stick :/ so I`ve given up on my hids. Leds work perfectly though.

How do LED's compare to the HID's looking st a cree pair for 35 bucks... Alot dimmer?

I`ve only tested with cheap leds, and I`m on stock halogen now. With that said, I know there are Leds that have similiar output to hids.
Problem with cheap leds is crappy output and colors that look like crap.. I`d recommend buying some high output, quality leds.. Stay away from Ebay

The HPB BMW Canbus HID kit has been pretty successful. The only issue is really with 2007 vehicles.

I upgraded my fog lights to Subzero LED lighting kit at Xtralights website last year and they are bright as HID but work well with Bimmer's CANBUS, no error so far.

Wow took a look at those ehh 400-450 bucks for LED bulbs are alittle high for me at least for fog lights....

I have 6000K HIDs in my foglights. Purchased from HPB
They match my D1S low beams as well (also purchased from HPB)

They have an oversly sensitive and inconsistent ECU when it comes to lighting. So it may or may not throw errors. We have customers with 2007 with no errors and every now and then we have a customer with errors. We've had a high success rate but the 07 are too problematic to guarantee error fitment operation. So it may require coding.

I had them working for about 2 years. I had the canbus harnesses from the retrofit source and did nettodat coding.

mine have always worked since i installed my bms hid fogs back in 2012. i had one bulb die about a year ago because i got moisture in the fog light housing. i got a cheap pair of bulb on amazon and it worked fine with the bms hid ballasts i had. so far so good on my fogs.

i think your issue is your ballasts are not freiendly with the pre lci car. case in point, i go thru LED AE's at least one set a year, the car just chews them up.

I'm thinking the Amp draw on the ballast is to high on start up. Because these things take alot of draw to fire up then they tone down on amps once fired up. It is only the drivers side I am having a problem with the passenger side always fires up. If they both fire up they will stay on forever. It is once I turn the high beams on and go back to lows that the driver side has a chance that it wont fire up and I get a light on my dash. The seller is sending me a brand new ballast and bulb to replace on the drivers side. Wonder if the fog light power is linked in any way or is it separate power to driver and passenger because the passenger side has never failed to fire up.

Btw I got this kit lol I know I'ma get flamed for this haha but this product looked like he knew what was up because in the listing it gives specifics to the fog light install on a E90. If all else fails I will return the kit to the seller n buy the 110 kit from HPB.

Btw I got pulled over once for a burnt out fog light on my E46 lol they were straight up purple too I had like every color temp you could think of cop was just checking for drunk drivers as I drive at 2 am a lot.

Ok, here is my .02 cents on this as I just switched over to these LED bulbs and resistors.

I dont have a picture but can update with one if you all would like to see. These things are really bright, if the car was not so low to the ground Im sure I would get brighted by oncoming cars.

I got these for $5.51 shipped from California. Honestly the best crafted LED bulbs I have purchased from any seller, ebay or not in a while.

These work awesome too, they get hot which is normal but have a heatsink and I zip tied them up where they could get airflow.

Im kinda over dealing with HID kits. A friend had a similar situation as the OP and I had to rewire the entire ground system going to both ballasts through the harness in the car. Now, this was an 04 WRX with miles on it but still, they were really hit or miss when it came to the ground and if it was enough to start the igniter.

These are in my opinion the best HID kits anyone is selling on eBay. Ive used them in a lot of vehicle conversions Ive done and they work. Very bright for 35w bulbs and dont seem to be as picky as others weather they are eBay or retail from a shop.

Most of the aftermarket HID and LED replacements don't offer the current draw or load that a regular bulb has so a resistor will always be used inline with the new configuration. This may help also with the non turn on issues but most likely a good common ground between the two ballasts will help out greatly.

High quality ballast make the biggest difference.

When me and HPB tested HID kits for this BMW, we tested over a dozen ballasts before putting them on the market. It was too ensure error free operation, longevity and quality.

The HPB are likely not the cheapest HID kit to be found but they are the highest quality ones available, least likely to error and I say that without hesitation.

I'm having the same issue with the driver side (and also have an 08 335xi). I am using cheap ebay ballasts but I've used the same ballasts on my old e46 and they lasted for a while. twice I've gone with a very similar and common cheap ballast from ebay and when they both come on they stay on and work fine. but sometimes only the passenger side comes on. I could press the fog light a few times and sometimes it would come on and if it did it would stay on. It hasn't been working at all so I haven't even bothered turning on my fogs lately. I was thinking the ballast blew or went bad after a few weeks, but sounds like maybe it's not the ballast? sounds like maybe this cheap ballast just isn't very compatible to work consistency with my year,make,model.

Anyone else have low end/cheap ballasts that seem to work fine?

How to code the fog lights on a 2007 bmw 328i ?
