Everyone check out this "Techmatte" magnetic vent mount! It can be had for 7 plus shipping on amazon or you can offer 8 bucks to the eBay dealer and get it shipped free!

https://instagram.com/p/7YVr5DRear/

When I got it initially the otterbox defense case and note 4 was a bit much, and that's understandable considering the note 4 is huge. You can remedy this by getting a spigen case for 10.99 on eBay. Next you're gonna need screen protectors if you ditched your otterbox,go to eBay and get tempered glass even protectors (2 for 4 bucks). These provide a glass look and feel.. I love them honestly and getting them on perfectly is cake.

The magnetic mount comes with two metal plays so you can decide if u wanna use 3m or not, I stuck both in my case for maximum mounting strength. The magnet has rubber clips that are non marring as long as you're gentle and are very tough.. The mount stays in place while removing your phone!

If you have a quick charging capable phone look into the brand ventev and they have a line of Qualcomm approved car chargers (yes the same charger that charges a note in less than an hour!)

Anyways used the GPS for approx 240 miles in two days and it worked flawlessly.. Fortunately the e90 has a raised spot below the vent and when is mounted up is solid as a rock due to that.. Not a single rattle or bounce... It's like it was meant to be..!

Let me know what you guys think!

Any idea how an iPhone 5 will fit into this holder?

The mount comes with two metal tabs. One is intended to be put in between the case and the phone, the other has an adhesive side that you can stick directly onto the phone. They claim the adhesive is permanent. Whether that means it's tough or if it's a one time use.. Idk. But basically any phone is compatible.

Looks to be very similar, maybe rebranded, if so it'll work very well. Reviews are good.

That is very true also! It's like buying led's on eBay.. Some work, some don't. Anymore I just stick to a brand that goes by "JDM astars" for lights because I know the extra money spent will satisfy my needs.

But, back on topic, the vent on the e90 is placed in such a way that when your phone is mounted up on the magnet the rest of your phone rests againt the trim below it reinforcing it. It's like it was made for this car haha.

I hate having my phone in front of a vent though. If I'm really hot I want to point the cold air at me. Or sometimes in the winter the hot air makes my phone think it's overheating.

I have settled on the cup holder add-on.

ProClip blows all these supposed solutions away.

Doesn't bother me too much unless I need that blast but my ac is good enough to satisfy me otherwise. I thought hmm ac on my phone will keep it running great, and it did.. Didnt think about the winter however.. (This will be our first winter together) .

Where'd you find this at? Out of curiosity. The main thing I like about the magnetic mount is that I just always leave the tabs in my case.. They do make magnetic suction mount, dash mount, and cd mount versions as well.

Snark noted, as is your loss, son. I'm on my third car and fifth phone (going back to a BlackBerry) with ProClip. I'd tried -- and since my wife doesn't really want a mount in her car, still try -- the other solutions. Suction cups, tape, friction and otherwise, cd slot inserts, etc. They've all managed to fail in one way or another over time.

The two-part ProClip solution is ingenious because it allows you to "permanently" (but not truly so, because you can remove it) put its mount in various places in the car, in particular along any part of the trim. And the separate device holder is custom made to fit specific devices, so there's none of this spring-loaded holder action -- you just slide it right in.

Here's some pics of it in my old non-nav 2008 335i with a Note 2, and a pic of my Note 4 running MHD in my current 2013 335is. (I use an angled ProClip mount on the 335is because it's to the right of the nav display; in the 2008 335i without nav, I used a straight-on mount since there was no nav display to obscure.)

Just bought a bungee charge cable to replace the long awkward rectangle like cable ventev gives you with their charger. It's truly a nice cable, but it doesn't belong in a car in my opinion. Being all stiff and what not..

Bungee cable came as a pack of 2 so I'll use the other one in conjunction with my bluetooth receiver in the center console to help tidy up what little space I do (or dont) have. link to cable is in ig post.

See how it turned out here: https://instagram.com/p/8NvG2VxebN/

Love it myself
