Im having a problem with my windscreen washers, they are working, just not very well. Its the same everytime I pull the stalk; an normal initial burst for half a second before it turns into a dribble from then on.

I don't think its a blockage because they would cease completely (surely?) or even clear completely if the debris breaks apart.

It's the initial burst being ok, every time, that is making it a head-scratcher for me, if its clear enough or has enough pressure at that point why the weaker pressure the rest of the time?

mine were the same. i disconnected the pipe to the washers and blew down pipe to washer tank with airgun (compressor) loads of crap came out of the bottle top. refilled with water and repeated a few times until all clear. not had a problem since

Sounds like a clogged filter in the resevoir. Many different washer fluids can cause this. One reason why I only use BMW washer fluid.

If not the above, the the supply tubes to the jets could have a split in it.

Filled mine up with a kettle full of boiling water and blasted it out. Spluttered like hell at first, but it cured it. I let mine run out of water and all the gunge from the bottom of the bottle must have blocked it.

I like the sound of that, thats what il try first!

Was it fully boiled water?! (im bothered about melting the rubber/plastic)
And was the bottle fully empty when you started?

The water was not absolutely boiling, but pretty warm to say the least. What i originally did was to let the washers run completely dry and they seemed to get blocked - i was trying to get all the old washer fluid out. Anyway, i filled it with the boiling water and let rip - really spluttered and threw some gunge out; then it was fine. Put BMW stuff in and there were no more problems.

I was reading threads on here about removing inner wings, putting dishwasher tablets in, etc............. It was cheap/simple and it worked for me.
