A quick one if you can help.

Friend has a 2010 318i that needs a replacement engine.
The plan is to get one from a breaker. What model years 318' will fit?

This is the 2.0 petrol 140 bhp engine.

What model years have this engine fitted?
Any difference between pre and post LCi model on 318i?
Can we use any 318i bare engine from 2005 to 2012

N54 will cause constant headaches.
N52 or S54 for me
An S54 E90 would be awesome

S54 would be awesome, however, many of the N54 headaches could be squashed out before the engine was mounted in the car!

The engine code is an an N43B20A - how long has this engine been out?

( yes putting an N54 in would be fun but have got one of these already and the hassle to change to a bigger engine is not worth it on a shopping wagon like this as youd have to change ancillaries ecu gearbox rads etc)
