Rain-X Latitude Passenger Wipers Don't Fit

Just a warning, unless it was my stupidity ..

My 09 e90 needed new wiper replacements so I went to Walmart and grabbed some Rain-X Latitude wipers. Checking their website for my sedan I needed 24'' driver and 19'' passenger. The driver side fit fine that isn't the problem, the problem is the passenger side was too large because of a plastic end piece on the wiper itself. Just a warning that probably 18'' would be better for passenger on e90s, not too sure but seems so, I'm going to return both and just order OEM for the trouble.

I fitted the Bosch Aerotwin A073S on my E90 and had no problems. Reason for using them was that the relatively new OEM wipers were noisy and skipping badly, the driver's side was actually bowing a bit and therefore not properly cleaning the windscreen. When I asked BMW to look into this and replace seen as they were about a year old and had not so much as seen much action (and the car is always under cover from the sun), but they weren't willing to help since it's a wear item. So I decided to try these and so far am quite happy.

I've had a couple of fitment issues with brands other than Bosch for wiper blades. So much so, that now I'd only buy Bosch wiper blades, just to avoid fitment issues. Their OE line sold at autoparts stores isn't 100% the same as the dealer OE blades, but it is very close and the non dealer bosch blades can be found at decent prices.

Or just buy OE blades and never have a problem.

The Bosch blades are a bit thicker, but otherwise the fitting is perfect. The only niggle that I had when fitting was that for whatever reason, the passenger side plastic cover that clips onto the wiper and hold the wiper in place is slightly deformed (maybe had some heat many years ago when owned by the original owner) and required me to shave off some plastic for the wiper to fit properly. I reckon if it wasn't deformed and like the driver's side there wouldn't have been an issue.

Well, OEM is typically the best, but at the ludicrous cost compared to the Bosch wipers, and in my case I didn't have much faith in the OEM wipers since the ones I was taking off were replaced under motorplan about a year earlier, and were noisy and skipping pretty much from the start. And the weird bowing that caused the driver's side to miss a portion of the glass in the middle I could see just how much the wipers tended to bow more than the Bosch wipers. So could very well be that I had a dud set (or specifically the driver's side).

At the end of the day, I have these Bosch wipers on the E90 and they've served the purpose well, and on the E46's and another vehicle I have also fitted the normal generic fitting Bosch Aerotwin wipers and they all work really really well, no skipping, and they're quiet. Plus they look neater that the older metal frame types that were on the E46's.

Thanks for the responses everyone, I'll check out the Bosch blades Walmart has to give it another try, I believe they were the same price as the rain-x blades too. It is suppose to rain here Sunday so I need new blades ASAP lol

I use Valeo Ultimate 900s. I think they're the exact same as the BMW blades. I found the best deal on RockAuto.

I wonder if Valeo is then not the OE supplier to BMW, could be. But haven't seen Valeo wiper blades over here, just Bosch and so on.

That's weird. I have a Rain-X Latitude 19" passenger side wiper on my E90. Fits just fine. Maybe you had a 20" boxed in a 19" packaging? Measure it to be sure.

Yeah I was thinking maybe they got swapped somehow, I just went to a local auto store and got destroyed on a pair of Bosch blades $55 but had no choice since it was raining

I had slightly longer wiper installed, believe it was rain-x too. Well, it decided to pour down rain in the middle of Kansas. 4 hours of he two wipers slapping and smacking against each other, and it would slam against the windshield. I should've yanked off the wiper and put a sock on it, but I didn't want to get wet.

Frustrating. Even wipers can be hard.

According to Pelican Parts for my 335is, Valeo is marked as the OEM supplier. Even then the BMW-branded ones are only $3.25 more for the pair.
