Wagner Tuning Evo2 Performance Intercooler 6" - Review

It'll keep short and sweet. There aren't a lot of community reviews, let alone data logs for this wonderful unit, so I figured I'd chime in.

Shout out to mike@x-ph.com for the good service, quick shipping and reasonable price

NOTE: I wasn't given a single dime to post this review. This is fully my own personal experience and data logs with the product.

Initial Quality and Packaging
No complaints. Good quality metal at use, with some nice welding to go with it. It is incredibly heavy, specially when compared to stock. The quality of the clamps and pimping included was also top notch.

Unit came well packaged, and with no damage.

Made in Germany

Instructions
Pretty shit and mostly in german, but then again, it's a self explanatory job.

Trimming instructions and dimensions are included with the documents provided, which is a huge plus.
Quote:
Install
It is a 6" stepped FMIC. It is heavy, and the install requires a good amount of trimming, but the fitment was very OEM-like.

Getting the hoses to slide through the engine bay is a pain in the ass. BMW did not make it easy to disconnect stock components and connect the included hoses to the turbo pipes, or the charge pipe.

Be prepared to spend some time stumbling and pulling/pushing/shoving on shit. We ended up disconnecting some water piping to give more room to play and eventually got everything through. We also ended up removing the front bumper to facilitate the process.

When it comes to actually installing the FMIC, you'd really want to have a second or third person that you can coordinate with, and has some mechanical skills. A hydraulic trolley jack was a huge plus.

Connecting the tubes and pipes to the FMIC was a mild pain the ass as well, but it comes with the territory.

As long as you get the trimming right, everything else is very doable.

NOTE: Install experience MAY VARY by vehicle trim.

Total: 3.5hrs.
Difficulty: 7/10
Quote:
Performance
I'll let the MHD logs do the talking

NOTE: You will need FMIC-specific tune. The added spool time with lower boost is very noticeable because this is a stepped 7" unit significantly large than stock.

I have the data logs in an excel dump. The AITs before, during, and after pulls are right on the table I posted. As is ambient temp.

From your pictures this looks like the EVO 2 "Performance". Based on my measurements the EVO 2 Comp is 8inches...

Ambients were 75F for Stock and 81F Wagner. AIT Δ is change in temperature from idle to end-of-pull.

Showing that image isn't showing useable data.
Try using datazap for reading your logs.
You will love it, And so will we.

You might want to fix the title, this is a 6" intercooler.

How about some closer pictures of the fins? Do you have WGDC comparison?

Shit, my fault

Closest picture I have of the fins:

I'll check the WGDCs tomorrow, don't have the data logs on my home machine.

Agree. I'm incredibly surprised...by how bad the stock intercooler is ! Looking forward to seeing how it performs in the summer with the increased temperatures and humidity. That's the real reason I bought it

I'll take one tomorrow. Car is white, so it just blacks out the spot where the stock intercooler was now my kidney grills and mirror caps match! Looks dope!
