Mods/tuning for a newbie?

Hi all,

I have a 2011 E92 335i - automatic tranny. 35k miles, perfect condition, no mods on it at all. Looking to get a bit more thrust (not sure what the right word/phrase is) - basically, I want the car to shove me back in my seat as soon as I hit the gas. I've read some basic info on JB4, Dinan stuff, Cobb, Pure Stage 2, in the forums, but a lot of this is Greek to me. It seems like the consensus is Stage 2 might be the best bet. If so, would I need to add anything else to the car? Does this void extended warranties? I'm assuming I'd need to find an install shop as well, which would add cost. Are there other alternatives that would do the trick? I know the JB4 is much cheaper than the Pure, for example.

Cheers

Edit: Forgot to mention, I have an extended warranty for 3.5 more years if that matters

If you wanna be safe get a Charge pipe. And go with MHD. You can tune it from a handheld android and flash it back to stock whenever.

and if youre really looking to feel a difference get a chargepipe, FMIC, Intake, and Catless DP and go with the stage 2 or Stage 1+ MHD flash

JB4 is a tune like MHD, Cobb, Dinan and a few others but it is considered the best for power and is more flexible than a Cobb, MHD is more flexible and offers more in terms of making adjustments and whatnot from what little I know.

Cobb is decent for power but doesn't offer much flexibility and Dinan is way overpriced and isn't worth it at all.

Pure are aftermarket turbo upgrades and many suggest jumping straight to STG 2 rather than STG 1 but they're decent on power and doesn't require a lot of changes to add to your existing turbo (i believe they swap the core).

Start with a FMIC, next should be the DPs, Tune (JB4/MHD/Cobb) then upgrade your CP, add in either a DV or BOV and you have most of the basics covered before you do other simple add ons like exhaust and then do the PPK.

I'm new so I might be off track but the experts here know exactly and trust me there are quite a few that know their stuff here.

I love this place for the knowledge these cats have.

That's what I thought. I saw everybody suggesting it, I thought maybe I was out of the loop here or something.

I'm new. Recently purchased a 335i. Conv, 2008. I want to do the same, anyone know on a reputable place I could do the two suggestions above? I live in Oklahoma.

Do these two mods get you like 100 extra hp? And does it wear much more in the motor or turbos?. Ty

Jb4 and charge pipe can easily be done as DIY

Any mechanic can do it as well as long as they follow the step by step install guide

Here is a dyno showing the different power increase

You will want to hit up the N54 section, this is for the 2011+ cars with the N55 engine. They are pretty different, especially in the tuning aspect.

1) JB4, IC, CP, DP, Exhaust.
2) Stage 2 Turbo, Inlet pipe.

Good start above. Then work on Wheels, Tires, and definitely suspension upgrades. This should keep your wallet on fire for a while.
