***Help Needed ASAP***

My charge pipe just broke today as i was coming back from school. I am currently in Portland, Maine and i live in Greenwich, CT. Would it be safe if i drove the car back to avoid having to tow it/ flat bed it if i drove on low power mode/limp mode? If not is there anything i can do temporarily to fix it or does it even hurt my car at all by not having boost/ a charge pipe? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Tape, hose clamps, zip ties - just get the fitting back over as far as you can and tighten the hell out of it and don't drive hard / disable any tune you have if you can.

I wouldn't drive it like that. As far as temporary fixes go, maybe just duct tape the thing on there and disconnect your boost solenoid on the passenger side of the motor. It lives right above your exhaust manifold. Won't make any boost that way, but you will still be able to drive cautiously and limp it somewhere. But I have to suggest not driving 300 miles like that.

Find the C-clip and try to put it back on. It looks like the o-ring section is still good. As long as you dont get in boost it should hold. Then overnight a new charge pipe.

I've driven with the FMIC disconnected. Just keep out of boost and you'll be fine. Feather the pedal to get up to speed so you don't build boost. Worst case is you build boost and throw a code, then you'll hit limp mode and the turbos won't spool until you restart the car. In both cases, you'll be fine.

I just drove my car 30 mi with hills with jb4 on map 4 so I could keep auto code clear on. CP was completely off. I did 75 mph with no isses.

It drove fine for the most part. Just drive like an egg is under your throttle foot.

Really? I'm suprised by that, my car was slightly jerky, backfiring once and just vibrating more than I'd like it to on throttle

Definetly going to use a bit of duct tape and zip ties tomorrow though, VRSF DP should be waiting for me at home if not by Friday. Thank you guys, I'll let you know how it goes

Remember to take the o-ring from your stock pipe, and put it on the new pipe during the new install. It has happened to fellow inmates.

VRSF pipe comes with new oring. You have to transfer the clip over. You can not drive a N55 with the cp disconnected since it is maf based. Even a decent sized leak is difficult to drive with.

The Evolution Raceworks I got a year and a half ago did not. Perhaps a shipping oversight, or my tech missed it in the packaging.

My ER didn't come with one either. I was a couple beers too deep in the install to notice. I figured it out the next day though.

Yeah sorry I meant charge pipe not downpipe lol, but that is VRSF too. Made it home today and did the temporary repair using some duct tape, a bunch of cable ties, and a bungee cord to keep the pipe in place, i stopped a few times but only had an issue once where the pipe came off the throttle body. Overall it was just more of a pain in the neck driving in limp mode 290 miles, when the charge pipe was in place it was pretty much fine.

Put the VRSF charge pipe in today, let me tell you, for the time and money spent, I shouldve done this a long time ago. Car is much more responsive, it holds boost better, and just feels much better altogether. Great mod, thank you guys for the help

Mine did too once every few min, but then it would go back. I think JB4 was clearing since I had it on map4

If that's really the case then your charge-pipe must have been damaged for a long time. There's no magical performance boost from replacing a pipe.

My BMS/CPE chargepipe came with a warning to be careful as the sudden extra performance might take you by surprise. Yea right

They're a must for reliability but on their own they don't effect performance.

Maybe your car just did not react to it the same way I did, my car is much more responsive on throttle and feels much more steady when building boost, you also have to remember the stock charge pipe is made of plastic, making it easy to warp or deform under pressure and heat. If I was to relate it to something, it feels slightly less restricted and more responsive, I'm not saying I'm gaining horsepower or anything, i just feel like the car responded to a change and is improved.
