Where to get Weighted m sport gear knob ?
I want a gearknob with a bit more weight for my 335i , as with a lot of people I hate the light cheap feeling standard one.
Im looking for the E46 M sport gear knob - 25117896886 known as the ZHP.... Apparently its been superceded and hard to get, have any of you bought one in the UK ? If so where from? Basically I want to make sure I get the real weighted one and not an equivalent light crappy one. Thanks!

Yes I just bought one from them
Looking forwards to better gear changes. I have an after market weighted gear knob on my z4 and that helps a lot |

Yeah I can imagine, mines looking a little tired now so wanted to fit one of these.
Found it almost amusing how these were fitted the the clubsport E46, and then when the M4 came out I sat in one in my local dealer and spotted that they'd fitted exactly the same knob to the manual box in those! I'm worried about the way the gaiter fits to the bottom of the gear knob though, any idea whether you can remove that satin ring at the bottom to make it look factory fitted? |

Probably the best mod I've done to my 335i. The additional weight of the clubsport knob helps the shift nicely.

As James says above - did you have to modify the gaiter to fit better? I think the way these go on an e90 the gaiter just rests against it, rather than tucking into it more neatly is that right?

Should be a nice upgrade over the SE gearknob
How does the ZHP gearknob that you linked compare with the MSport one found on E90 family? The perforated one, link below: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Genuin...3D271556295147 Is the ZHP one heavier/shorter etc.? Thanks |

I swapped my MSport knob for the one shown in post #2. Much prefer the shape and the smooth leather. And yes, I think it is slightly shorter. The gaiter fitting is nothing a hidden cable tie won't cure.

Cool that's what I'll do, little zip tie to hold it in.
Looking forward to better gear selection with the added weight |

I made a solid stainless gear knob for my E36. It weighed over 600g and combined with the short shifter I had was incredible.
I'm also going to change mine to the clubsport/zhp one at some point

I've read on here the standard m sport e90 gear knob is taller and not as heavy as the one linked to.

The Clubsport knob is just over twice the weight of the standard knob. From memory its something like 60g vs 150g. Dont quote me on that though!

Fitted mine today!
E9cx MSport gaiters and gear knobs are all one piece, so unless you want to butcher your old set up, rendering it useless for either re-sale or reverting back to stock then the only two options I could see were either: a) buy OEM BMW Performance alcantara gear gaiter b) buy OEM SE spec dakota black leather gear gaiter (which I opted for) Here is the finished result!: |
