I knew I wasn't going to last....
Before I started looking for another BMW.
I have a new M3 coming for a long test drive (one week) and if all goes well I might go crazy and get one. Of course not new but a new shape. I have driven one but only for 20 minutes and I wasn't 100% sure about vs my old 335i. Over this week I will be doing around 700 miles so it will be a good test. Will up date you all next week. |

Farkkkkk! I want one for a week.
One thing that would worry me would actually be the warranty cost. Would it not be like £1000 plus a year? I half wonder about swapping my 335i for an M4. Don't think I could afford it. Especially as I haven't even got my own house yet. Some stage 2's and suspension mods on the 335i will have to do I think. Work's been a f'kin joke lately as well.

It's all down to my job. Part of my job I need to evaluate cars and this means I get to drive everything (almost) currently available to purchase new. This explains why I only do 5/6k per year on my own car. I get demos for a week or two and sometimes for months.
Cars like the M3 we don't ask very often for internal reasons but sometimes I can't help it. |

Depends how you drive it. I'd say the new M can near the N54 335 for MPG. I think it does have a smaller fuel tank though, so yeah maybe 2 full tanks and a bit. I've had over 320 miles out of the V8 on a tank before. Not bad I thought!

On my old 335i the best was 400 miles from a tank. Most of the time around 300 with the lowest 200.
Since I won't have anyone in the car with me for most of the time I will be doing low mpg. 3 years ago I had a C63 and that was bad on fuel, I was getting between 10-15 during the week I had it. |

I just drove from Milton Keynes to North Wales in my E92 M3 and got just over 30 mpg. Driving around Wales and back to Milton Keynes I got 25mpg. Roughly 3/4 of a tank each way, which I thought was good. If you are worrying about mpg though it's not the right car.

I have an E90 DCT M3 in my garage now. I have the pleasure of owning it as a weekend car putting roughly 2-3k miles a year. Comparing it to my E91 M-Sport 6mt, it is a completely different car in my opinion. Both cars are not modified, and I enjoy both cars equally for it's served purpose. The E91 is a perfect plush commuter and grocery hauler, while the M3 is pretty uncomfortable to drive 70 miles round trip M-F for me. However it is one of the most refined sports sedan money can buy today without paying over 6 figures to replicate.
With that being said, enjoy the M3. You'll know what I mean once you log 700 miles of seat time....enjoy!! |
