Lightbulb OMG I Think I Finally Got It!!!

after much research and help from fellow members (major props to acuracy ) i finally believe i found the solution to using oem zcp rims. i have a 335i coupe w/ sport and currently no plans of dropping but is always open in the future.

so if we are able to get the ET at the front to stock number we should be fine correct and will still be able to make the same u-turns, maintain stock feel, etc?

Rim Sizes:
OEM ZCP Rims:
8x19 ET47 Front
9.5x19 ET27 Rear

OEM 189 Rims:
8x18 ET34
8.5x18 ET37

Tire Sizes (i will be using general uhp):
1. 235F/265R
2. 245F/275R

Front Possible Solutions:
1. use a 10mm spacer to give me a ET37 (3mm Difference From Stock)
2. use a 12mm spacer to give me a ET35 (1mm Difference From Stock)
3. use a 15mm spacer to give me a ET32 (2mm Difference From stock)

Rear Solution:
just need to get fenders rolled and if i drop in the future just need a -2 camber at the rear to accomadate.

i know spacers in the front but i don't know wich and want opinions and thought. some people say 10mm and some 15mm and as you can see there are differences between using which spacer.

sorry if it's simple. im still trying to understand. i have no clue what the calculator means when you compute. the closer to stock et at front = the better? so 12mm spacer would be ideal for me no?

Really the research or question should be is it safe to run, or are you comfortable running spacers upfront?

safe to run = mixed opinions. but alot of m3 people use them with oem rims to clear bbk and never had problems. some even track their cars and its with this i am comfortable running spacers at the front.

i just need to know which size is best for me and which tire size to fit with to when i turn the wheel nothing hits, etc.

Yes, anything LESS than stock will not look good, the goal should be at least maintaining the stock configuration or adding 5mm. However, since you need to run big spacers up front just to get to stock, don't try to add more.

+1...spacer for the front is not good to begin with, so just use the smallest spacer possible to get to stock config, personally i would go for the 15mm though.

Here's a summary of what will work for your car:

front: use 10mm spacers to get you to ET37 (I recommend H&R)
rear: no spacers needed

rear fender issue: you run a coupe so the ET27 is a bit close. Solution: shave the inner lip of the fender, will give you about 10mm additional clearance & prep you if you will lower it later.

tire selection: 235/35/19 front, 265/30/19 rear, Falken FK452s - why? they have skinny sidewalls compared to other makes - another alternative is Toyo T1R.

^ thanks man. may i ask why you will use the 10mm spacer instead of the 12mm? using 10mm spacer will give you a 3mm difference compared to the 12 being 1mm.

as for the tires aren't the general uhp sidewallys thin as well?

10mm will give you ample clearance. These are the thinnest spacers that you can use to give you the clearance you need. See http://www.hrsprings.com for more info.

As Gen_92 said, you want to minimize the use of spacers at the front. Here's a link from Tire Rack that shows a cutaway diagram http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/...currentpage=95

Your front wheels steer your car and if anything happens as a result of too wide a spacer could possibly result in disaster (not just for you, but other motorists on the road). This is why most people advocate getting the correct offset for the wheel you want, without having to result to spacers.

General Excalim UHP tire sidewalls aren't as skinny as Falken or Toyo. I've had a couple of sets of Generals and friends with either Falken or Toyo, which is why I have real-world experience with this.

Good luck on making everything work. Just out of curiosity, have you considered CSL reps? At the high-end, Morr Alloys has the VS7 & Neez have their own version - both are forged wheels. At the entry-level end, you have VMR (Velocity Motoring) & Miro - they are decent wheels & depending on what tire brand you pair them with, will cost you less than US$2,000 for a set.

still a bit confused. i understand minimize the use of spacers front but 2mm is not a big different (not to be rude or anything) and it will give me a closer ET to stock front so why not the 12?

the morr vs7 and neez qd7 are way out of price range for me.

i just love the oem zcp. my other high possibility was using the miro csl reps and having them power coated. but its something about looking at a rep and the oem that always gets to me.

The least amount of spacer necessary to get you clearance like stock, its mainly a safety issue...

I don't understand the thread... you are using oem stock wheels... and what are u trying to accomplish here? why not just keep it stock?

I think using spacers upfront is dangerous anyway, but using any spacers less than 12mm is even more dangerous, 'cause they crack, you don't want that to happen especially upfront.

So go with 12-15mm, but I wouldn't, that's why oem e46 M3 wheels are usually so cheap around here even the forged ones (except for ZCP), because most people don't wanna run spacers upfront.

Anyway perfect offset for the front is 30mm, so get as close as you can
