Father, daughter killed by street racing Mustangs
Please don't street race!!!
http://kxan.com/2016/10/29/rollover-...in-round-rock/ ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — The Round Rock Police Department says a father and his daughter were killed when a driver that was street racing struck them after a collision. Police say the crash happened at around 3 p.m. Saturday at A.W. Grimes at Gattis School Road. Initial information indicates two drivers in Ford Mustang vehicles, one blue and one red, were racing when the red Mustang clipped a silver mini-van. The collision pushed the minivan onto the sidewalk where it struck a man and his 12-year-old daughter, killing them. The two passengers in the red Mustang were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The three occupants of the mini-van were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police said charges are being filed against the driver of the red Mustang, however, they are not specifying what kind of charges at this time. They said the driver of the red Mustang is a male in his lower 20’s. The driver in the blue Mustang sped off and police are searching for the driver. They ask the public to call the police if they have any information on the car’s whereabouts.

What is it about mustang guys. Insecure? Around here they're always revving at stop lights and trying to race anything they can. I was towing a boat with my Nissan Titan the other day and had to accelerate hard coming out of a light and there happened to be a yellow stang sitting at the opposite light. As I passed him he revved on me! In my truck....with a boat. Wtf.
Feel terrible for the dead father and daughter. Awful. |

You've got to be very smart about where and when you let loose with your car. It can mean life or death and can certainly ruin your life if you hit someone. Driving crazy and doing things like racing isn't worth it.

The cheap horsepower that Mustangs offer seem to attract idiots of all ages. We read far too many Mustang stories were they are leaving some event and crash or some very unfortunate case like this. So I definitely think both play a role.....obviously the driver is ultimately responsible........Phil

I think jail time will happen on top of a suspended license. Vehicular manslaughter is my guess. Horrible story.

OP, I'm highly against people saying anything along the lines of "street racing is bad, don't do it" . Kind of like the whole fire arms argument. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. More specifically while drag racing, bad judgement kills people. When behind the wheel of not only high HP cars, but any car in general while racing or not, you must make a basic judgment call before initiating any kind of race (I do this all the time). Few main questions to ask yourself: Are there any driveways OR intersections coming up within the next 1/4 mile or so? How about sidewalks/pedestrians? And last but not least, how many cars are ahead/behind you within the next 1320 ft or so. This is a simple check off list anyone can stand by and IMO greatly reduce the chance of problems that might occur. Street racing doesn't kill per say, its more so the people who lack self control, good judgement, and over estimate their limits while driving. The government likes to brainwash everyone and say its like the worst thing in the world but I would never agree to such non sense. Some people cant handle it and this is what ruins it for everyone else.

Are you serious? Street racing is bad because it's on a street where people like this unfortunate father and daughter are often present. Even if you are Michael Schumacher, there is a good chance of losing control when racing, and that's why you don't do it. There is no brain washing here, just common sense and consideration for others on the road/street.
