Here goes- I'm considering Monroe struts...

Go easy- I'm not dismissing them because of their name, and I'm wondering if the "newish" top line Monroe shock, the OE Spectrum is similar to a Koni FSD?

I'm after more comfort. My car came with the sport suspension, but currently has Eibach Prokit and BMW performance struts/shocks.

I'm looking at
Bilstein B4
KYB Gr2
Oem Sachs
Monroe OESpectrum (with supposed "automatic adjusting valve" and lifetime warranty, even against wear)

I realize that those are probably not optimal for the slightly shorter Prokit springs, but I don't mine a bit of a shortened shock life.

Has anyone tried the OE Spectrum specifically?

If handling and damper control are not high on your list then they will probably be fine.
What will stress the shock is increased spring rate and possible bottoming. With the pro kit springs being fairly close to oem sport spring they should be fine I would think.
My personal experience with Monroe is only with full size trucks. They lasted but damper tuning left much to be desired.

Thanks for the reply avocet- have you had any experience with that specific shock, the OE Spectrum? Did your truck maybe have the monroe reflex? Or maybe just a standard cheap monroe?

Don't ever go for Monroe. Here in Australia, there's a company called Sparesbox that sells Monroe struts and shocks for the 335i and they suck big time. A mate bought them and they feel even more underdampened than the stock suspension on stock m sport springs. He quickly sold them and now has Bilstein B8s which are very similar to the comfort levels of Koni Yellows.
