The daten that BMW Standard Tools 2.12 (INPA, NCS Expert, WinKFP, Tool 32) runs on is about 4.5GBs. My INPA .rar file is 26 MB.

If you import the full E89 DATEN, then you'll be around 12-13 GB. Even more if you import more than one set of DATENs.
Some tend to utilize the "lite" version, which don't have the firmware files for CCC/CIC, which are where the larger files are located. |

Programming files are what take up the majority of space. "lite" versions do not contain ANY programming files. The programs themselves are not that larger. The daten and ECU files required to read and write to modules are around 4-5GB for E9x or technically E89.

You will still need the DATEN files because that's what the software utilizes to communicate with your car. If using the coding tool, just click update NCS. You don't have to update WinKFP (which is used for flashing/programming).
