Music to go to sleep to

Lately I have been having a hard time falling asleep and dont feel like using nyquill to fall asleep..so I thought about music..does anyone have any nice music that could be used for going to sleep at night.

I know this sounds nuts but last night it helped but Im looking for jazz without words.

classical music usually does the trick, I like moonlight sonata... or you could watch c-span until you just fall asleep if you dont mind sleeping with the light flickering on the tv, or set it to sleep after 90 minutes or something. Or maybe do some exercise like go for a light jog or lift some weights before bed to get the energy out. You can even take a walk or a drive after dinner to bring u into a relaxing mood. Also reading is pretty common for sleepless nights. Stay away from caffeine as well, and especially coffee after dinner, and those horrible energy drinks... well i wouldn't be surprised if they find out they cause cancer in a few years from now... I thought this was weird but also the food you eat can help you fall asleep, staying away from high carb foods at dinner will allow you to relax, and stay thinner, and even things like ice cream or chocolate can keep you up bc of the sugar.

These are all things that I have gotten from a seminar I went to about sleep on campus because I had trouble adjusting to college 2 years ago. I was told to stay away from the nyquils and over the counter sleep aids because of dependency and they also can make u feel like shit in the AM. Hope it all helps?

Eisley, Vampire Weekend, Yann Tiersen, Yo-Yo Ma, etc..
98% of their music is good.

Music to put you to sleep is a whole genre. Search Amazon.

Classical music collections are very popular (got my wife 1 for Christmas, mostly lullabies, I think it's all Brahms). I also got her some 'nature sounds' CD's. Bought her a few 'seashore' discs. They're extensively reviewed on Amazon.

Myself, I put up with whatever she puts on. Doesn't affect me much, although I like the crashing waves.

Try meditation, lying in bed. Follow the breath, focus on your breathing. If your mind wanders, take it back to the breathing. Or, count your breaths. 1, in. 2, out. 3, in. 4, out. 5, in. 1, out...odd number.

Right now, I'm avoiding sleep, because I've always felt it to be a relative waste of time.

I've been rethinking that lately, though. Not liking sleep is a hard habit to break. I'm always happier the day after a good night's sleep.

Go buy a book on Zen meditation. It starts with following the breath. Can be very relaxing.

Seriously, Target has some real nice relaxing music. I play it in my office and patients invariably ask where I got it from.

I rely on a rain machine. No music, it makes me "listen". My rain machine goes with me each time I travel. It makes me sleepy talking about it.

+1

I don't have anything like it, but when it's raining outside it's the best thing ever.

It's really comforting to wake up in the middle of the night, hear the rain, and close my eyes and pass out in 5 seconds.

There is no way I could do that. I leave the gym and it takes me a few hours to calm down. Rarely could I leave and just pass out.

The Moonlight Sonata is definitely not music to sleep by; the last movement is particularly invigorating.
