Relocating to Framingham possibly
Might relocate from San Diego, CA for a job. Would appreciate some information regarding auto insurance companies and premiums you guys are paying for 335 coupes. I have two cars on my policy in SD, an 04 Jetta (beater) and an 08 335 Coupe and I am paying 1400 annually for 1k deductible. I noticed that most popular insurance companies in CA dont do business in MA. What companies you recommend and what premium you get.
Also wanted to know, if I would need dedicated winter tires for winter, or all season high performance tires will do the job. Any other advice you have, please free to share. Much Thanks |

Sounds like the right thing to do, to have dedicated summer and winter tires.
How about insurance costs? Anybody willing to share how much they pay for car insurance. Who do you recommend for insurance? |

I have Traveler's. Had one claim per year for the past two years, one at fault, the other not at fault, 1K deductible and it came out to about 1600 a year.
[EDIT] Should also add that I live in down town Boston so the cost might not reflect how much it is in Framingham (most likely cheaper).

that's quite a relocation. Not sure I would be able to give up southern Cali for Framingham (I've lived in and around Framingham my entire life). I have Commerce Insurance, mass insurance used to be regulated but that is now changing. If you have a spotless driving record you can shop around for better deals. With one ticket from my SRT-8 Jeep I pay 1200 a year for my 335.
If you don't mind me asking what company do you work for that would have you relocating to Framingham?

I graduated from UCSD last year, now getting my master degree at Boston University. If you enjoy the weather of San Diego like I did, be prepared for the huge transition! You might indeed ask yourself why the hell you ever moved to Boston when winter comes. Last not least, I highly recommend you to have an extra winter sets or 1)you will be waiting for toll trucks for more than 24 hours 2) or you have to shavel the snow til you get a clear ground! However, be prepared that the drivers/traffics here are much horrible! I really meant it! I am still getting used to the way people drive here. Please be also cautious on the road condition. You might not get pulled over driving over 80 mph, but you can easily bend your wheels if you are not careful enough. |

I drive fairly aggressively at times and had not been pulled over in the 3 years that I've lived here. However, you have to watch out for the potholes here coz they can really fuck up your suspension and rims quick..... Quote:

Don't do it man. san diego to framingham is not even close to being a lateral move. stay in san diego and dont tell me its about the money. its always about the money. i know that san diego has a problem with illegal mexicans but framingham has PLENTY of illegals, trust me.

x2 on that one. I spend a lot of time in Irvine CA for work and can't get enough of the weather. Absolutely love it out there.

I hate Southern California. Give me a place where seasons change and the people are honest (rude) any day!
Boston, you know we love you madly Hear the crowd roar to your sound!!!
