Streaming music
I have a Galaxy S7 Edge and I can't seem to find a clear cut answer on how to stream music through the car. Do I need a Y adapter, just the USB or just the aux cable? It seems our cars are geared towards iPhone use and not for Android phones. I want to stream through Spotify and Youtube.
Thanks |

You need to establish if your car has the option first.
Use a BMW vin checker to see if you have the option installed. I believe it is 6NH to 6NK Bluetooth Audio You have to have a combox and idrive I believe. Otherwise http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1255872 http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=642527 Last edited by ctuna; 08-08-2017 at 02:11 PM.. |

Also, this is going to sound real stupid but what are you all using to play music in the car MP3-wise and where do you download from that's free? These last few years the only music I've had on in the car other than the radio was Jay-Z's Blueprint 3 CD. It's been a real long time since I've downloaded any music, like downloading from Limewire and burning it onto a CD long .

Then you don't have factory streaming bluetooth.
You can look into that streaming thread I provided to see what your options are. No factory retrofit for streaming will work if you don't have idrive as far as I know unless there is something new. |

I have a samsung phone as well, will likely pick up one of those cheap bluetooth receivers one of these days as I like to stream through youtube red lately. My main setup for the car is a 160gb ipod classic with the OEM y cable and that serves me well, I can control and see my music on idrive.

I do have factory Bluetooth but my freaking Samsung S6 does not work. Do you guys know if there is any software update to our radios in order to be compatible with newer phones? I havent called my dealership yet.

I stopped by Bestbuy today and they said there's a 15 day return policy on the aux cords. Bought an Insignia 3' and went out to try it in the car and it works good for me, streams Youtube and Spotify. I actually prefer the cord cause there's probably less chance of signal issues with Bluetooth.

Thanks, can you be more specific? Whats insignia 3'? Also, I dont have A2DP in my bluetooth module either so I dont think I can stream via wireless I believe Samsung S6 has a Bluetooth version that is not backwards compatible with my car. |

I bought an Insignia brand 3 feet, 3.5mm auxiliary cord that connects the phone to the center armrest AUX IN. You can literally buy it, walk out to your car and test it. If it does not work then return it right away, this is what the cashier told me. This is not bluetooth so you will have to have your phone plugged in when you want to stream from your phone.

like slim said, the 12v outlet in the console only powers on when the car is started. anything plugged in there will not drain your battery.

Tunai Firefly. I finally got one in the 328i and I absolutely love it. Ditched my iPod and USB keys. The sound quality is amazing and the instant connectivity makes it totally seamless, almost OE-like (other than the lack of steering wheel controls for skip/rewind, of course).

OP, So I have IPhone and Android phones, I used to connect them through aux but eventually I got tired of wires around me inside the cabin, to make life easier I bought following Bluetooth device. I can skip tracks, change volume using steering wheels buttons as well, I keep phone in my pocket and stream music without any issues. no wires, no mess..

You can probably only skip tracks using the steering wheel buttons with the Iphone connected to it correct? Or do you have Idrive?
