If your currently running V3, have a set of catless downpipes, and a decent code reader, can you do me quick 15 second favor? The more responses the better.
All need for you to do is plug in your code reader and check the I/M (emissions system) screen. Please respond with the following; 1) Do you have any systems “not ready” when you check the I/M monitor screen? If so, what? 2) Assuming V3 was installed after the DP’s, your estimated miles driven since V3 install? 3) Vehicle build date 4) Any program updates you may have This isn’t a big deal because the need for readiness in your emissions system is most likely NOT needed by 99% of you all. In my stupid state it is. Shiv has been gracious enough to build in a means of tricking the computer into thinking all is OK. I believe this is something no other company is doing right now with their SIMs. ![]() Unfortunately, since my car doesn’t seem to ever want to show a readiness signal on the O2 and Catalyst, I want to see if I am an isolated case through this survey. Inevitably, this will help me find if the root cause. To reiterate…It could just be related to something I screwed up, or my specific car. Regardless, this readiness situation doesn’t apply to 99% of you. Thanks a TON! Last edited by M3to335; 05-24-2008 at 08:24 AM.. |

The o2 sims are only good for code suppression. There is not going to be a way to use one setting for all cars. I've had the sims on for a couple thousand miles and cleared my codes after I had them on. Week ago I pulled them and got dozens of o2 sensor voltage below threshold and "muddled" o2 sensor signal codes.
These are BMW codes not OBDII codes. There are just too many variables between cars let alone DME versions. Just slip someone some money under the tables.

Ocha, if that is the case, I'd like to let Shiv chime in here.
Also, its not possible for me to slip anyone money. The data is taken directly off my car and electronically sent to the state. No way to modify the data. Guys, please please please, if you have this setup and a semi-decent code reader, can you take 15 seconds to plug it in and check. |

Im not sure if this helps, but my friend with COBB software in his WRX doesnt have cats. His codes never go to ready but the check engine light is not on. When it comes to I/M time, he has to put his cat back in and do a drive cycle for it to pass.

Well Im pretty sure its the same principal. You would just need cats to get them ready. Then take them out with no check engine light all year.

not possible. if NC is anything like NYS, unless your car is pre 95, they dont use a sniffer, and check emissions via the OBD II port. the test reads the vin number of the car along with the emissions data.

This has steered completely off course.
All I need is a few people to respond with the information listed above. If I dont get something by tomorrow night, I get the pleasure of ripping the downpipes out , driving 50+ miles, then praying to jesus that it goes ready. Then I get the pleasure of putting them back in again after that. What an ENORMOUS pain in the ass. It took my buddy and I 6 hours on a lift to get these in. He's swapped engines on his E36 M3 race car like it aint no thang. These bitches were a pain. The easy way is to show that maybe Im not the only guy with this issue, and that different cars do need different control over the O2 sensors. |
