oil temp not working

about 1 in every 10 times my oil temp gauge does not work. i have a jb4 so i can see the oil temps on my phone. When the oil temps dont work the oil temps will from 70 degrees to 140 and back down to 70 degrees. This causes my jb4 to not work because the jb4 does not turn on untill the oil is at 160degrees. I assume the stock oil temp sensor is bad. Where is the stock oil temp sensor located on the engine?

I only see the oil level sensor in the oil pan. Is the oil level sensor the same sensor for the oil temp?

Was this issue ever resolved? I have the same issue but now my gauge completely stopped moving. Change the oil level sensor on the bottom of the oil pan and still no luck. I've had codes read at SSR performance and the dealership and no one was able to see any error codes.
