Montego owners, keeping it clean?

OK this is kind of late to be asking.

But how does Montego stand up to dirt?

Not as bad as black, not as well as silver.

My car looks good for about 2-3 weeks before it's grimy looking. Of course, I'm not anal about keeping a mirror finish...

it doesnt start looking too bad untill you start building up a good layer of dust on it, then it looks dull...... but the when the wheels get full of brake dust it goes well with it

yup i go to thoes cheap "quarters" spray and scrub car wash mid-week.

you can spend $3 and in 4 minutes you do the wheel scrub (using their brush)
then use soap spray on high velocity to blast the dust off it gets 99% of it.

then blast the car with soap

then rinse.

then i have found at about 100-130mph the car will dry itself off quick

then do a weekly handjob ;p

This keeps the rims mostly dust-free and car mostly dirt-free with little time investment and money investment

Then do it right on weekends.

With a lease i am not so sure you have to worry about hardcore care unless you are into it. Blue is highly resilient compared to black in hiding swirls etc.

don't park under sap trees. etc

Ok thanks for the responses all.

Sounds like it's going to be about the same as my current Mystic Blue. And yes being a lease, it's not as big of a deal.

I love the Montego. I Cali duster it pretty much everyday and I can get up to 2 to 3 weeks between car washes. Oh and compared to the black BMW I had Montego seems to hold up better when it comes to the swirls. God I hated that.

It takes a while after washing it to get dirty looking, but that can be delayed by just hosing it off.

Thats the thing I don't get. How do people get swirls on their cars? I've never had that problem. Do they wash their cars in the sun?

Try taking your car to the dealer and have them wash it...swirls don't have anything to do with washing the car under the sun...it has to do with how you dry up your car.

Why would I ever let the dealer wash my car? Are you kidding me?! Every time I turn the car in I let them know to not clean the outside at all.

Its a well known fact that you should tell them to not wash your car because they can't clean it worth a damn. If you know they are going to leave swirl marks and say nothing, then thats on you.

you do realize the bmw dealer uses a standard touch car wash yeah? like the $2 car wash at the gas station. swirl city. I ask them to not wash my car when i take it in for service. Sometimes they even listen!

There's very few dealerships that purchase a wash system. Most have random guys that wash your cars with dirty rags and soap. Not a good combination if you care about your car at all.
