Yes please!

How many of you are considering/have purchased MILV's and are running an AA tune?

I have purchased a set and am hoping AA comes out with a tune update soon. They are saying they are trying to get a setup done in the new years...

If you have an AA tune and want/have MILV's let AA know! The more people they have interested the better!

Don't get me wrong, from all accounts the BPC tune sounds awesome and I would love to have it. It is just that I have an AA tune.


Does anyone have any experience running MILV's without a MILV specific tune? I know a dyno has been run with no real gains(I am looking to do the install first and waiting to see what happens in the new year with the tune...) but am wondering how they behave under real world conditions and if they will have any negative characteristics.

I ran MILV’s with stock tuning for about a week while I had some tuning issues sorted. Car ran great no issues at all, and after a few days it seemed to pick up some power.

Apparently there are adaptations that occur over time which may give more than stock power with the MILV’s and no custom tune.

I have a AA tune also and am considering the MILFs ooops I mean MILVs upgrade. I’d rather not switch tunes. Fingers crossed 🤞 they get it done soon!

I bought the MILVs and they are currently in transit, also a vancouverite. I don't have a tune. I have the 3 stage manifold and headers to install as well. I saw the chatter from hassmachine and he said something is in the works for tuning and that he would be able to tune for MILVs so I am waiting it out to see what the cost of that would be. I'd rather dump money into suspension or my m3 conversion.

This is what I have been saying.

With the tune, these 'adaptations' will be programmed into the tune and the extra power due to the MILVs will be immediate, not over time. These tune changes will be permanent where the 'adaptations over time' will erase if you lose battery power.

And it looks like the tune richens the AFR after 3-4000rpm and this adds more power where the 'no tune- wait and let adapt method' will not have this richer AFR and the additional power due to this richer AFR.

No. No there aren't. There's no 'adaptation' for maximum lift. Yeah, it will compensate fuel to some degree - but it will always model the engine as if maximum lift is 9.7mm when it's really 10.7mm.

AA tune with MILVs is probably not going to happen, but that's up to them.

Wouldn’t “compensating fuel to some degree” be an adaption which occurs over time and leads to more than stock power?

It adapts AFR but that's it. The engine still thinks the valves are opening 9.7mm when they are not. Things on this engine are model based - so now you've broken the model, unless you update it.

Thanks for the input guys... Well, I will keep my fingers crossed on an AA update, and try and get these things installed over the winter. I actually don't really drive my 3 much in winter anyway...

I would be interested, and I did ask them and they said it was possible. The person I spoke to seemed a bit hesitant about the mod, probably just being cautious.

Can you elaborate on how the change to the model would yield better results?

If I understand, the MILVs allow more air in and out of the engine. With my basic understanding of air and fuel being maintained at a ratio, if the car understands there is more air and adapts the amount of fuel to maintain a ratio, then it would do most of the work. Again, I have very basic understanding of this, so please explain.

+1 for the AA tune. I also contacted AA and told them I'm interested. Fingers crossed or else I wouldn't even bother redoing a VCC gasketing job, it's a real PITA.

I really liked the updated tune from AA.

I haven't gotten the MILVs yet as I didn't want to buy another tune.

An update from AA (even with an upgrade cost to cover R&D) to see the benefits from the MILVs would be great!
