Power Supply to Audio Harness

Hi All,

In need of some advice / assistance please, I have no power supply from the audio harness.

Before i changed the head unit, I noticed a red light glowing on the harness.

Looking at it now, there is no light and my new head unit is not powering up.

Could I have blown a fuse/s on the car/harness side)

Any help at all would be amazing.

First you must identify which of the the three common
BMW sound systems you have this has nothing to do
with which Head unit or Idrive you have.

There is a sticky at the top of the forum page called
Wiring diagrams for members.

If you are trying to put and aftermarket HU into
your car you should have done a lot of research before attempting it. If you have a Logic 7 amp
or options hanging of the the Most Bus you might have some big problems.

Also I hope you used a harness and did not hack
into the wiring.

Thanks for the reply, I have a Base audio system and just to confirm I didn't hack into the wiring I used a harness.

This is my second head unit install, first one went without a problem and this one was working ok, suddenly I am not getting any power to the head unit.

I’m really hoping it’s just a fuse

What are you putting in ? The red light you saw may be from the disconnected most bus fiber optic line. There is a Head Unit pinout in one of the first head unit links. There is a fuse for the radio you might check that.

Suggest you check for most bus modules by doing a vin check and looking
at the options listed.

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/

the above is good for pinouts and chasing fuse
positions down.

Year model and options would be needed for an
intelligent response.

Most of the aftermarket harness don't let the most bus shine through. No aftermarket head unit has a most bus connection so it doesn't matter anyway.
(well at least last time I checked)

Thanks again, I was installing a Pioneer SPH-DA230, everything was working fine until I unplugged it.

Unfortunalty I can find any free VIN finders online so i will have to dig out my V5 to check.

With regards to the most bus light, this was glowing before, I plugged it in, when i removed it again it's wasn't shining.

Hence my thought that it may be a blown fuse.

bluetooth , SOS , usb , Sat and I think DAB modules
all run off most Bus.

You can look up fuse number on the tis site
there should be fuse chart behind the glove box
in all the 3's at least.
