RB Turbo 1 year review = Love em
Hey everyone.... Been a long long time since I've even read this forum let alone posted...
Have a 2007 e92 335i... had another brand of upgraded turbos for a few years, when the car ran they were great, but the turbos did fail.... I will not name the brand, don't ask... I'm not here to start wars, or trash talk anything.... The only reason I mention that is to say I have background prior to the RBs So... about a year ago, i was frustrated, and decided to try a different brand... RB had been around a long time, and I'd heard that Rob had come a long way from the very beginning... I called Rob up... asked him how long it would take to get me a set... and long story short, he spent probably a good 1-2 hours with my on the phone, and some long emails making sure that I understood all of the options, and some of the supporting mods he recommended (none of which are expensive).... I previously had a different solution to the CCV issues, but I was only really addressing half of it... I won't go into detail, I know there are other threads on here about the high and low pressure... Anyway... I just wanted to publicly thank Rob for all of his help in getting me up and running a year ago... All of the time explaining the supporting mods (I am now no longer turbo charging my valve cover gasket, so I expect that to last much longer before leaking, especially running 20psi) The turbos themselves, equally as responsive as my prior brand... top end is there..... power is just as good as the other brand. I basically dove in and got the whole setup from him... including the silicone inlet hoses... a little tricky to install, but doable...... No complaints... I held out a year before writing a review, just to be sure..... The car pulls hard, every time... top end is there, and doesn't taper off... no smoke, no issues.... Really happy with these things... Specific data/info/pics/performance results or not, longevity is always the most critical question in the aftermarket turbo scene. All said we do appreciate the OP taking the time to post the online positive feedback and also the kind words about the experience dealing with RB.

I almost explained... car never has been on the dyno... not likely to be soon.... never taken it to the drag strip either.... why ? I don't really care :-)
I have what Rob was calling a year ago the Next Gen turbos... not sure if they have the same name now... They look stock from the outside.. but they make the car MOVE! I've been using Procede since the beginning... stepped up through many variations of that.... have meth injection, DP, DC, etc... Makes enough power that the back end was a marshmallow, until i replaced all the suspension linkage... Have an LSD in there as well.. Manual Transmission.. spins the tires shifting into third... (275s on the back, rolled fenders (e92)) CCV... I bought Rob's upgraded valve plus the external vent system... it involves drilling and taping some small holes, dropping some set screws in... but it gave me time to replace the valve cover gasket for a 2nd time (and now hopefully not for a long time again)... and walnut blast my valves again while I was in there... Longevity/Durability/Responsiveness are all that really matter to me.... so far so good... My review... sure.. while I don't have all the logs and numbers... in general, my point was they are still going, and Rob was of tremendous help... HP... I dunno... these are equally as fast as the last ones.... and beating the E60 M5 on the freeway wasn't a problem with the last ones.... so... 500+ I say... :-) |

factless anecdotal "review" by someone who hasn't posted anything since 2013
yep definitely trustworthy no offense op, it helps to provide some actual info if you want to actually review these things. maybe it helps to know what turbos you actually have on your car, for starter...

I'm not trying to say they are better/faster than anyone else... not trying to prove anything... I've got 80k miles on the car... about 10k miles on these... I like them every bit as much as the last brand... and they are holding up... You can bench race and compare dynos and 1/4 mile times with your automatic transmission with someone else.... I drive a manual, it's probably a little slower in the 1/4 than some other cars... but I don't care cause it's fun... I like my RB Next Gens cause my car is still running, and it's fun.. I assume if I can drop stock M5s... I'm at over 500hp.. but I really don't care if it's 525 or 575... traction even with the LSD is a problem... that's enough for me.... As mentioned.. the main point was to just give a shout out to Rob for his support and time he took with me.... and that the turbos are still working great... back to enjoying driving .... more fun than bench racing.. there's enough dyno charts out there from others I'm sure.... (besides.. I never did a baseline... so... no matter what I couldn't show you an increase from the same dyno) You don't really have to attack the post as useless.. who cares if I haven't posted since 2013... Still had my car since 2007 and modded the crap out of it like many of the rest of us here.... And I've now dealt with two different brands of turbo manufactures... which is more than most of us here. Just trying to thank someone for a job well done. |

+1 on RB Next Gens/plus,
I have had mine for 1 year 20k km, daily the car, 15+ drag runs, ran 11.1 @130 e85 26psi. Happy with mine as well.

Speaking of longevity and peace of mind, I still have the original very first release of RB turbo on my 2007 E92. I'd sent them to RB for a rebuild for a smoking issue I was chasing (they weren't the culprit). Even RB themselves were surprised they were still mostly OK. I don't track my car but I'm not easy on her either
