Of course i'm getting it. I've only been waiting for 3 odd years now. I haven't decided whether to use the bundle as an excuse to pick up a 2nd blu-ray player or not, though

3 days to go! Less actually.
I'm actually thinking of picking up my pre-order at a Gamespot near me that's having a midnight launch. I haven't done that in years. Probably be the oldest guy there and I'm in my 30s. ![]()

Its coming out this Thursday, right?
![]() I've also pre-ordered at my local Gamestop. Just the basic game, none of that fancy packaging for me ![]() The last couple of months have been a flurry of Gamestop purchase activities, starting with GT5Prologue, GT5 wheel, GTA4, Wii Fit and now MGS ![]() Prior to that, I've barely touched my PS3 (got it mid 2007)

![]() Did you play Uncharted: Drake's Fortune? Hands down my favorite game this generation and in my view the best looking game to date. I have a feeling MGS4 will soon change that, if that screenshot above is any indication. ![]()

finished it once on normal difficulty, about to begin again on extreme difficulty. without a doubt the best game i've ever played. a different sort of intensity than call of duty 4. better than God of War 2. this game completely rubs out the line between movie and video game. the only lowpoint in this game is the AI could've used a bit more work, but even then it's much more improved over the other three Metal Gear Solids. some of the best boss battles in a while; gameplay, graphics, and sound are so immersive. i would've liked to have seen it run at 60fps also, but that's a minor gripe. i caught myself a few times craning my neck trying to see more of the environment behind the frame of my tv....you really feel like you're there. to truly enjoy what this game brings, you should play it on a big hdtv, with surround sound. started playing on my 26' tv with tv speakers the day i picked it up then decided to hook it up to the home theatre afterwards. huge difference. just like any movie, sound is half the experience with this game....Kojima didn't send this game to LucasArts to master the sound for nothing. I speak with a bias. Metal Gear has been my favourite game since the NES days. It's the only game I've followed closely, and in my opinion the story in this franchise is the best in video gaming. As a longtime Metal Gear fan, all my expectations were met and surpassed. |

I really want to pick this one up. I've played all of them (for PS1,PS2), but I did not go very far in Snake Eater. For some reason it was too much of an untraditional MGS setting, something didn't feel right. How does this work for someone who really liked MGS and Sons of Liberty?
The reviews I've read so far indicate its another all time great game. I'm currently playing GTA:IV so I'm trying to beat that all the way before I buy another game. -Daniel |

Yep, work sure does drain the majority of the day. By the time I get home from work I only have a handful of hours to balance between dinner, games and actually using my Blockbuster online subscription (its a good deal if you don't leave the movies sitting on your desk for weeks at a time). That's assuming I can snag the TV from my roommates.

^^ Wow, that matte grey is an exact paint match to the matte graphite finish on my Honda 919! It would compliment it nicely, though I don't know how I'd mount a mobile PS3 system and play it on 2 wheels

Just coming up for air to say that this has now become my favorite game of all time, and I've been playing games since the days of the Apple II+, Atari 2600, etc.
The presentation and eye to detail is simply astounding. This is a video game with movie-like presentation. If you thought GTAIV was like a movie, you have seen nothing yet. The graphics are insane, by the way. If you can, play it on an HD television. Even better, run the sound through a 5.1 speaker system or use headphones. I tell you, the sound, especially in Act I, is better than anything I've ever heard in a video game before. As for gameplay, you can actually play the game a variety of ways, as a straight stealth game where you can actually go through the game without killing a soul, as a Call of Duty-type first person shooter, or as a hybrid of both, depending on what the situation calls for (I chose the last way). And the story... no spoilers, but WOW. If you have played any of the MGS games in the past and enjoyed them, you will love the story here. That being said, there are some very long cut scenes and some instances of humor that might seem weird to the Western world, but these do not detract from the overall experience. At first, I hesitated in saying this was the best game I've ever played because I did not want to sound like a PS3 fanboy. But the thing is, it IS. The game has kept me playing till about 3 am since I started it and it keeps on getting better as I move through the Acts. This is the PS3's killer game. If you were holding out on buying a PS3 because you thought it had no killer games, you have just run out of excuses. Go get it!
