just wondering if my rain sensor will roll my windows or roof up if it starts to rain.

i searched, but very hard.. didn't see my answer on the first page and didn't dig on the internet..

I can lower my windows in the rain if tha helps.....

I remember coming across this very question about a year ago. I seem to recall that it's a feature for the sunroof...not sure about the windows. Also, not sure if the feature is activated on US models or if you have to play with the coding to activate it. There might be some federal regulation that says a car can't have that feature because it might chop an infant's head off.

Only one way to find out -- fire up the ol' garden hose. (Car must be running or have power to accessories, of course.)

ya ill give it a shot with a squirt bottle, i want to try it with everything off...

it would be nice to know if i left my windows down at work and it started raining if they go up...

I'm 99.9% sure it won't work with accessory power off.

The more I think about it, there's no way the federal gov't would allow a car to auto-roll it's windows up without physically pulling on a switch. Regulations were put in place (about a decade or so ago) that mandated that power window switches had to be of the type that had to be "pulled" up with a finger to prevent the scenario of a child sticking their head out the window whilst accidentally pressing down on the 'window up' button.

This is why US model cars have the press-and-hold feature on the key fob that will lower all windows and open the sunroof, but the function to roll windows back up using the key fob is disabled. In the same vein, a rain-sensing window-raising function (if it exists) would have to be disabled on US models.

it was said that my '12 jetta would auto close the sunroof after 24 hr and roll the windows up after 48? never tested it out..

You can code this feature, but it’s only when your car is operational. You will not be able to park your vehicle and have sunroof close when rain starts. My understanding it’s a sunroof only feature.
