Bimmer Performance Center Built M57 Thread
This thread will be showing our built M57 and the modifications we have done to the chassis. We are very excited and can't wait to share the progress with everyone here. Specs will be shared later but to get the ball rolling, here is the candidate and making progress on getting the drive train out of the car and upgrading the rear subframe assembly. I'll be updating this thread as we continue to move forward

This looks like a very interesting thread! I'm looking forward to seeing future updates
![]() Quick question. It looks like you didnt disassemble the front end to remove the engine. Did you pull the engine out along with the transmission like that? Or, as I suspect is more likely, did you get everything loosened to the point where you could drop the engine and transmission a bit so that you could access the bolts at the top of the transmission? Also, did you end up removing the subframe to do so? |

Sorry for the delay we just had a hurricane come through. We are ok we just had a lot of rain and wind come through.
The current goal of this build is to be the most badass 335d in North America. We plan to take it to Half Mile events, drag strips and road courses. The current diff is a 3.15 ratio (the manual gearing not the DCT gearing). We have hybrids we will be installing for this build. We are going to use something a little extra to help boost power output. More on that later We pulled the engine out by itself, we left the transmission bolted in the chassis while we were pulling the engine. Then we removed the transmission afterwards. We didn't remove the subframe or take apart the front end during this process. Last edited by Phil@BPC; 09-25-2018 at 03:56 PM.. |

This 335d was purchased with known rod bearing failure.
This is an open checkbook build allowing us to explore and test the M57 platform to see just how far it can be pushed with today's technology and one off specialty made parts. Last edited by Phil@BPC; 09-18-2018 at 10:45 AM.. |

I love phots like these! Keep them coming please
![]() I'm in the process of disassembling my old M57 engine and trying to find a nice interesting use for some of the parts like the pistons. I sold some of the parts already but have doubts anyone will want to buy the head, pistons, camshafts, etc. |
