Water pump replacement issue

First off I've looked thoroughly for this issue. How do you remove the plastic receptacles from the tstat. I understand the wire ring must be pushed out but it still won't budge?? Maybe it's corroded any suggestions?

Wedge it out with a flat head while pulling and wiggling it out. Mine was the same
