Orlando / Kennedy Space Center - recommendations
Hi All ...
I am UK based and have a work trip planned to Orlando mid-November for 9 days. I have the weekend of 17th-18th November completely free. I had a short trip to Orlando in 2010, but didn't get the chance to visit the Kennedy Space Center, as the trip was simply too short. Looking for your recommendations on what "level" or "experience" to take at the Kennedy Space Center. Also, would you recommend going on the Saturday or the Sunday? Can I get a bus there (I am staying near MCO), or should I hire a car to get there? Also, any other recommendations in the area? Eg. a lake trip, hiking, etc. Thanks for your time .. . appreciate the advice. Cheers. |

We did a tour there about 10 years ago, we organised a bus to pick us up from our accomodation at Disneyland. Part of the tour was a tour around the cape. Well worth the experience, don’t know what this talk of levels is, but go for it.

If you are looking for another thing to do that is outdoors, I would recommend going to the springs. Wekiwa Springs State Park is less than an hour from MCO. Since the weather is cooler they shouldn't be too busy. Pack a lunch (Publix subs!), and have a nice day of swimming and hiking. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attracti...7&ff=323602855 Unfortunately, there wouldn't be any buses that go out there. Might be best to rent a car for that weekend. |

Do you have children coming with you, and if so, what are the ages? Otherwise, the standard KSC tour is great and an awesome add-on is the 'lunch with an astronaut'. The food is quite good and you really get to interact and ask questions - it's a worthwhile extra and not very much more money. I believe if you get it with general admission, then there is a small discount as well. There are bus tours that you can do as part of a package from MCO area, but they are hit or miss. There are more rental cars on any given day in Orlando Metro than there are actual local cars (insane!). Because of this, rental car rates at MCO are ridiculously cheap (think $20/day or so) if you look. Because of that, it would be worthwhile to just rent a car for the weekend. Then you can go see KSC and also have it available to go anywhere else as well. Regarding your request for recommendations in the area - the MCO area or the beach-side at KSC area? Let me know and I can give you some more details.

I would recommend a car rental for sure, maybe if you were staying on a Disney property an not planning on leaving would be the only time I'd say you can maybe not get one, but nothing is close by and you need a car to get around (Food, restaurants, shopping, other activities) imo.
