if you could put a tow hitch on this thing, I'd consider it! Would drive it cross country with a teardrop trailer in tow. reason why I'm looking at Cayenne turbo/GTS instead.

The exhaust on the X3 M40i even sounds better than the M3/4's.

Calling it an SUV is reaching IMO. If you can't put a hitch on it and tow, it's not an SUV. Soccer Moms will love it, just like they do all city-crossovers/lifted wagons.

I recommend GTS over this if u care about such things! also the Porsche has tons of configurations, having said that the Stelvio is just for driving pleasure e

Well it certainly is sporty, it has some utility, and it's a vehicle....But I agree, the term SUV typically infers some ability to tow or go offroad. Neither of which this will be capable of. It is, however, gorgeous by "SUV" standards. And that exhaust...

Yep, even if you have to carry 4 adults, although this probably isn't all that large inside if it's Macan-sized.

Drive an SUV for driving pleasure? Wow...

This is what's wrong with the US, the same reason we can't have manuals or hot wagons when the rest of the world gets them.

What is going on with all these sportscar suvs?
an suv with sonorous exhausts?
high cv + heavyweights
but I guess Maserati and Ferrari are entering the mainstream.. good for forcing BMW to keep pushing the envelope

When this spends weeks in the shop, do you get a nice Chrysler to drive?

Before I would buy this, I would check how many mechanics the dealership employs and what repair turnaround time is. Wasn't there a thread about that 2 or 3 weeks ago?

When all you have room for is one car that needs space to go camping, snowboarding and long road trips, yes SUVs that are fun to drive are now a thing and for a damn good reason. Those who complain about this are honestly elitest sports car guys and it pisses me off. I'd love to have an m3 (or ideally a 991.2 GTS) next to a Range Rover for offroad and have best of both but I can't keep two cars and don't really want two payments either.

Oh, I'm sorry, where is the fine print that says I can't be a driving enthusiast?

But the idea isn't to be "elite", if you are telling me you need an SUV to deal with camping, xc travel, and all of that, then in the same breath you say it's stelvio you need, I have to really wonder how "outdoors" this stuff you are doing really is. If one really did this stuff, there are many more vehicles that would be a far better pick. That's why I don't see this as anything other than a city-runner for 99% of the people that buy it. No one in their right mind would be off-roading in something like this, it can't tow, tiny interior compartment (sloping roof), etc. Because of this, it fails the "SUV" category and just falls into the "worse than a wagon".

So yeah, I don't really understand the luxury SUV cruiser market, just like I don't get the luxury truck market that is also all the rage right now. Enjoy it, I suppose.

You just made my point for me. You say you can be a driving enthusiast driving a base model 4 series but someone driving a high performance SUV can't?

Wow, that exhaust sound!

So much better than that fake snap, crackle, pop Rice-Krispies BS infused in some OEM exhausts these days.... *cough* F80 M3 *cough* M4 *cough*
