Modding 120k Motor?
Hey guys. I have all highway miles, and haven't beat my car. I take care of it so i imagine my motor is good. I'd like to mod slowly. Any issues with this?
I'm not sure how modding and mileage works. I see people with my mileage or higher modifying these cars and it seems fine. I'm really just trying to plot a timeline for my cars lifespan. I don't want to shorten it, but i also feel like if i stay relatively modest < 400 WHP i should not jeapordize any longevity. At the same time I'm curious as to the protocol for people who's n54s take a dump. Do u just buy a used one and swap it in? |

if you're up to date on maintenance, do it. these engines and internals are incredibly strong. for you to blow it up under 400, you have to be doing something seriously wrong. honestly with all the BEF and piggyback safety features, it's hard to destroy this engine.

Yes. MHD off the shelf tunes have better "safety features" than jb4 because it doesnt try to fool the system to make more boost. It actually changes your fuel map amd boost target natively in the ecu.

Jb4 has many saftey feature that MHD does not do the research you can have the best of both worlds and have JB4 with MHD back end flash which is what I run
I like J B4 because it offers a number of different maps so say you want to run e 85 well there's a map for that or maybe you want to run meth well there's a map for that and so on. |

https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29236 "1) The JB4 includes more robust safety systems than are possible via flash only." OP, you should stack MHD + JB4. done. |

I don't have any mods and was planning on just doing MHD stage 1 ... so if I stacked ... what maps would I run on JB4 and MHD for a bone stock set up? That thread on N54tech was the only one that really caught my attention b/c I agree it's totally logical to have the safety features of JB4 .. I guess I just figured it was an old post and it didn't ring true today since mostly everyone just recommends going MHD. |

I would assume you're fine but my suggestion would be to do an oil analysis to see if you have any bearing issues... if not, then give her hell.
