I'm hoping VK Motorwerks is going to made them. If they can made and sale Oil Cooler and Intercooler for such great prices, I think this can happen.

There are a couple of things that make this not as attractive as the oil cooler and intercooler kits:

1. The market is flooded with DPs. I know there are a lot of intercoolers as well but it is different considering point #2.
2. Install with DPs is the biggest PITA (compared to intercooler, and oil cooler) and most people cant do it on thier own. (Myself included).
3. The price of fabrication and stainless steel piping would probably make these pipes be in the neighborhood of the current market selection out there.


I personally think VK should focus on the Oil cooler and Intercooler right now and than focus on what the market needs next. I honestly dont think DPs are the right direction to go in.

price for both downpipes and intercooler from VK Motorwerks < $1000, cant beat it

Dp's are the single fastest warranty void'er out there. A lot of people stay away from them right now because of that. The time to install makes it unfeasible really to remove them before service.

The second issue is that no mechanical sim exists, which is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. Because no mechanical sim exists, you must put something in your ecu so you don't throw a code. Again, a big deterent because if the dealer see's it then you are in a major warranty issue again.

What about my number 3. That kind of offsets the price argument. I honestly dont see them being cheaper than 450 or so....

then what do you think of the investment on the oil cooler and intercooler? i cant believe how other vendors tried to rip off bimmer owners, oil cooler for $2000, intercooler for $1200-$1500

I bought Magnaflow ones that look 10x better (dont look like tin cans) and are 35 bucks a piece....

Yep, it is a 2.25 inlet and 3.5" outlet....

Wow, just saw this thread didnt know we were going to make down pipes already! lol however we always love a challenge. To get dps for 300 will definitely be one. I have to say riss and UR have done a great job and both offer great dps. i havent even looked into the production cost yet, if it can be done for around 300 without cutting corners then we will consider it. At the moment we are working on something BIG, stay tuned...

Sorry for such a noob question,

But arent dp's just bent and welded piping?
Couldnt someone just take your stock dps and have someone weld them, just in a bigger size like 3"?

In theory yes. However, nothing is ever easy as it seems. The bends are at a sharp angle and you need to make sure that the interior surface is a smooth so you don’t create turbulence, then you need to include the flanges and insure that they are a perfect fit.

No its not what the coming soon is referring too. Just stay tuned we are trying something that will either give us a lot more power or will simply blow up my engine. Just stay tuned I will elaborate in full detail shortly.

love the suspense. Also there are mechanical (not electric) sims. used them on plenty of installs for prototype work. cant believe no one sells them or incorporates them in their designs. hmm maybe i should make some and sell them for billions mwahahaha ok my dr evil moment is over
