why pushing off course in bumps?
Howdy.
Recently bought a 2006 325i 6MT with 200k miles, and have been working my way through its many issues. Just had front struts replaced, with immediate and dramatic improvement in damping. But a few times I've discovered that hitting bumps during cornering can still cause the car to "skip" off track, noticeably. As if the bump causes the front end to unload momentarily and it "jumps" to entirely new line. Disconcerting. Any ideas? |

Could be as simple as an alignment or wrong tire air pressure, or as severe as needing every suspension/steering component/bushing.
You'll need to(or have someone) check all of your steering and suspension components, replace what is needed and then have the car aligned. |

Thanks for all the ideas, everyone.
Sounds like I'm going to need to work through the various front bushings and control arms to restore the car's handling. (Rear shocks have already been replaced recently, fortunately). |

Are you are stock sport suspension? It's still "soft" in my opinion. The rear sub-frame bushing are weak as well if you start pushing hard. Everyone that upgrades (don't buy the stock parts) notices a difference in what you described. The m3 control arms help turn-in as well.
