Index 12 benefit over Index 11
Hello Everyone,
Long story short, I bought a brand spanking new pair of injectors in anticipation of the upgraded turbos that will be going in shortly. As I was doing an unrelated ignition upgrade today, I noticed that my car actually has Index 11 injectors and not some archaic ones which leads me to the following question. Is there any benefit in going with the Index 12's over the 11's? Have failures been seen with the 11's that haven't been seen with the 12's? I do not currently have any issues with the 11's but bought the 12's as more of a precautionary measure do to the increased demands that will be asked of the vehicle here soon. Any guidance on the matter will be appreciated. If not needed, there will be a pair of brand new index 12 injectors in the for sale section reasonably priced! Thank You |

Why not just keep them?
You don't need them now but you might need them at some point in the future. I'll make a guess that they're not going to be less expensive then. |

Index 11 injectors are solid. The piezo crystal inside was sourced from a higher quality supplier compared to all other previous indexes. The n63 service action "customer care package" had a specific check of the injectors installed on the v8. If any injector was found to be any index besides 11 and up it was a mandatory replacement of the whole bank. These are the same direct injection injectors that are used on the n54. The instructions in the SIB and the general populations experience are a testament to the quality of index 11 injectors.
