Need Help Diagnosing 328i N52 Weird Surging / Whistling Noise
Hey guys,
I have this really weird problem with my car. I think its something to do with my throttle or airbox maybe? My car makes this surging whistle/wooshing noise when I press the throttle down 25% in any gear. It seems to correlate with throttle position and not engine speed. I don't think its the serpentine belt because it's brand new. It all started after my mechanic did my oil pan gasket and changed my front control arms. They also did a power steering fluid flush and change. Here's a video of what I'm talking about: (First part of the clip is in the cabin, the other part is from within the engine bay, hooked up a microphone near the airbox) IF anyone has any idea what it might be please let me know it's driving me nuts. |

check for intake leaks.
check the PCV diaphragm. check the oil filter. yes, the oil filter. I had a MANN filter collapse at 7K ish miles and it made this weird whistling noise above 2K RPM. You're probably going to have to get someone to rev it while you listen under the hood. |

Will also check my oil filter but it was just replaced with the oil change I did. My question is, if it is any one of these things you listed above, what's the worst thing that can happen? Car isn't throwing any codes and it runs the same as it did before. Can I cause any damage by just leaving it and driving it normally? |

your PCV heater was replaced.
The valve in the cover was not replaced under recall. Unless canada got a recall the US didn't. diving with a vacuum leak will cause the car to run lean, at least until it goes closed loop. |

I'm not sure why people are always recommending these VVC when it's fails because it's infused onto the valve cover. I have research this N52 problem before. When I see someone attempt removing it rather than buying a new valve cover. It becomes big mess to replace and will require some type of sealant which usually will leak, lol. GOODLUCK👍🏽 do it right the first time...
