Automatic transmission slipping?
Sometimes when I push my car hard from a stop (usually with the traction off) I get a weird sound that Im not familiar with. I cant tell if its just the tires slipping or if there is something in the transmission that is slipping. I say Im not sure because I usually hear it with the windows up.
Has anyone here experienced any type of transmission slippage with an automatic 335i and (pardon my ignorance on how the automatic work) but is this actually possible? I realize I may have more torque going to the trans than the average 335 so Im a little concerned about this. |

Can you describe what you are hearing?
Maybe better still record it and post clip on here...

if you're running the run flat tires they suck and the traction is garbage on these tires... i think what you're feeling is the breaking of traction...

If I have the car in DS and am driving(not being a typical d-bag 335i owner) and just cruising, the car will shift around 3k rpms after a while and it feels like I am hitting a garbage can. A small *thud* noise when it shifts is noticable when this occurs. I too wonder if my tranny's going to dipset on me one day.

Did the 'noise' come when you pushed the car hard or was it all the time? When I say push the car hard I mean flooring it from a stop light...which, by the way, is very difficult for me since there is little traction. Was your car 'tuned' when you had the trans fail?
